Wheel caps for Ford Motor Co. fuel powered F-150 trucks under production at their Truck Plant in Dearborn, Michigan on September 20, 2022. - Construction crews are back at Dearborn, remaking Ford's century-old industrial complex once again, this time for a post-petroleum era that is finally beginning to feel possible.

What Does This Mean?

So far, the automaker has been successful in the US EV market with the release of the Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning pickup, and their E-Transit van. Up until the third quarter of this year, the company stayed in the second spot of the best EV brands-Tesla takes the top spot.

Ford's goal is to be number one and to do this. They believe that building EV components in-house will secure jobs and bring value to their company. This is the reason they plan to go back to the roots, where they were at the beginning of the century, because they believe that this is where they can create value that will bring in a huge transformation to the business.

This also means that their EV batteries and models will no longer be purchased as the production of these components will now be at the BlueOval City SK Battery Pack in Kentucky

This move places the company alongside other companies like Tesla, which also creates and manufactures its own batteries.

A "Global" Strategy

Ford is also looking toward the future and plans to introduce at least 16 all-new electric vehicles globally in the next five years. This is the company's most aggressive electrification plan to date.

For 100 years, Ford has created significant and meaningful innovations that have become the benchmark of the automobile industry. The company is looking to innovate again in an industry that has evolved and is looking to change the world again.

This is part of a broader change that is taking as Ford focuses on EVs as part of a larger effort to build a strong and healthy business with a strong presence in the future. In addition, this is part of a big global movement towards electric cars, and Ford is the first automaker to create a global strategy that is focused on EVs.

Having the battery pack production in-house gives Ford the ability to leverage its global scale, expertise, and manufacturing assets to work all together seamlessly. This will enable the company to scale, be more flexible, and speed up innovation. They will allow them to build and deliver high-quality vehicles that suit the needs and desires of their customers.

While Tesla is still the leader in the EV market, Ford has a lot of plans that might help them become number one, thanks to a smart move that will transform the company. This will allow them to be more flexible and will also enable them to use their global scale and manufacturing assets to work in a more collaborative way. This will bring the best of their global talents together in a single location.
