The tweet by Jonathan Greenblatt equated the decision to let Donald Trump back to the platform as not being serious about safeguarding it from hate, harassment and misinformation. It was also highlighted that Trump was brought back to Twitter after a poll.

A poll is when the public agrees on something. In this case, most of those who answered the poll said that Trump should be reinstated.

Greenblatt decided to equate Musk's decision, based on the public's decision to reinstate Trump, as his not being serious. Elon Musk replied with a simple "Hey stop defaming me!"

Greenbelt's Analogy as to Why Musk was Equated to Lack of Seriousness in Safeguarding the Platform

By definition, defamation on Twitter means libel, which means that a person publishes false information to damage another's reputation. The reputation was not false in this case since it came from a poll.

However, despite coming from a poll, Musk's decision to host and follow a poll was equated to his lack of seriousness in terms of safeguarding the platform. By analogy, Greenbelt suggests that Trump could be equated with hate, harassment and misinformation.

This is because he said allowing Trump back on Twitter showed that Musk did not safeguard the platform from hate harassment and misinformation. Musk replied to him, calling out the analogy used.

Greenbelt Said that 'Hate Speech is Part of the Price of Free Speech'

In his statement on CNBC, Greenblatt noted that "hate speech is part of the price of free speech." He said that this is what he believed in and that people should be willing in a democracy to tolerate ideas "we really don't like, we even detest."

Greenblatt shared how Elon Musk talked with them as he brought several civil rights leaders and that "actions speak louder than words. But I'm encouraged by what I heard this week"

The Anti-Defamation League CEO said that Musk told them that he is not replatforming people that they have kicked off the service until a clear and transparent process was finished. The CEO said that Musk committed to maintaining the election integrity effort to make sure misinformation doesn't prevail during the elections.

Musk's Decision Came from a Public Poll Where the Majority Said Yes

Greenblatt also said that Musk committed to a content moderation counsel, saying that Musk "offered to include us in it." The ADL CEO said that Musk even tweeted out his talk with them publicly.

Musk's decision to allow Donald Trump back on the platform happened after he held a poll where users were free to vote. The majority of the votes said that Trump should be allowed back on the platform, and this is what Musk did.
