This new application is Apple's latest effort to improve iOS 16's Live Activities feature, a new functionality on iPhones that provide interactive notifications. 

Among these notifications are from Flighty, a flight-tracking application supported by the Live Activities feature.

According to 9To5Mac's latest report, the Flighty app works automatically works three hours before your flight.

Its Live Activities notification will show your flight statuses, such as gate changes and delays. 

If you own the new iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, the Flighty notifications will appear on the Dynamic Island screen. 

It works offline and in flight. However, it can only provide estimated data. 

Thanks to the arrival of the new iOS 16.1, the Flighty app can now send live data when offline, in-flight, and even when the Airplane Mode of your iOS device is turned on. 

With this update, users no longer need to rely on or pay for premium WiFi in-flight services to receive live updates of their flight statuses.

Where to Get and Other Details 

Tech Crunch reported that Flighty is a free application available for iPhone users with iOS 16.1 and newer system versions. 

But they can also upgrade to the paid version, which costs $5.99 per month ($49.99 per year). Of course, the paid version of the app offers other perks, such as faster refreshes.

The official Mac App Store stated that Global Flight, Airport, and Airline Status Tracker LLC developed this flight-tracker. 

As of writing, the app already has 4.4-star ratings, which means that users prefer to use the flight-tracking application. 

The developers are still integrating numerous updates to enhance the performance of Flighty, such as the following: 

  • More secret holiday planes
  • Fixed times in the 'Good Morning' alert
  • Calendar Sync includes Booking Code and Seat more reliably
  • Improved 3rd-party email app support
  • Improved online-to-offline handoff
  • Clarified Family Sharing requires iOS
  • Limits free usage to 365-day historical flight search  

Aside from the Flighty app enhancements, the iOS 16.1 Beta 2 lock screen recently brought back the iPhone battery charging indicator. 

Meanwhile, the iPhone 14 Emergency SOS via satellite was launched by Apple.
