The next significant upgrades for Apple's operating systems (OS) are expected to be released around the middle of December, while updates, including iOS 16, are expected to arrive next year, around the middle of February or March.

The Upcoming OS Upgrades

On Oct. 24, Monday, Apple issued a number of upgrades to its OS, including iOS 16.1, iPadOS 16.1, and macOS Ventura, among others. Users, on the other hand, may have to wait a considerable amount of time for the next upgrade to be released by the tech company.

AppleInsider reported that at the moment, Apple is testing the beta versions of iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, watchOS 9.2, tvOS 16.2, and macOS Ventura 13.1.

As is their custom, Apple will certainly put their new product through numerous rounds of testing before it is made available to the general public.

Details Released by Gurman

The upgrades for iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 should be deployed around mid-December, according to Mark Gurman's "Power On" newsletter via Bloomberg.

Gurman did not indicate whether this was information supplied to him from Apple, so it is possible that it is simply an informed estimate based on the typical amount of betas and how often they are issued.

For instance, macOS 12.2 was launched to Apple users on Jan. 26, while macOS 12.3 was distributed on Mar. 14 this year.

On the other hand, iOS 15 and iPadOS 15.2 were released to the public on Dec. 13 last year, variations of iOS 15.3 were released on Jan. 26 of this year, and 1.5.4 was released on Mar. 14.

Gurman said he was informed that the release of the M2 variants of the 14-inch MacBook Pro and the 16-inch MacBook Pro would be "tied" to the release of macOS Ventura 13.3 and iOS 16.3.

This is about the fact that Mac releases would be pushed back to 2023. It is rumored that these updates will become available sometime between the beginning of February and the beginning of March.

As a result of Apple's policy of distributing software updates of comparable version levels simultaneously, it is quite likely that macOS, iPadOS, tvOS, and watchOS will all have their respective updates released simultaneously.

iOS 16.2 Features

Apple has already released several of the functions that will be featured in the forthcoming OS. One of which is the GPS Issues on the iPhone 14 Pro.

iPhone 14 had several faults at debut. According to reports, the iOS 16.1 beta bug prevented iPhone 14 users from using GPS effectively. Fortunately, iOS 16.2 beta solved the GPS problems with both Pro and Pro Max models, restoring the devices' GPS location accuracy.

And thanks to the new upcoming update, the Health app's Sleep data may now be seen as a Lock Screen widget. A brand-new Medication widget is also on the way. Plus, an interesting new feature on the iPhone will allow users to notify Apple whenever Emergency SOS is accidentally activated.
