Samsung Galaxy S23 Fingerprint Sensor

Unlike iPhone users, Samsung phone owners still have the option to open their devices using its fingerprint option.

And it turns out that the South Korean phone maker has been working to improve its fingerprint scanner.

As per the latest news by Sam Mobile, the tech giant first introduced its under-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner when it launched the Galaxy S10 back in 2019. However, the media outlet notes that it was a bit wonky at first with frustrating reliability issues.

Given that, the Korean behemoth went on to introduce an improved scanner for its Galaxy S21 series. The S22 lineup also sported the second-generation Qualcomm ultrasonic reader.

But this time, it appears that the renowned phone maker is gearing up to level up the fingerprint scanning feature of its next flagship device.

A Twitter user that goes by the name RGcloudS claims that one of the hardware upgrades of the upcoming smartphone is a better fingerprint scanner.

The leak hints that the new Samsung flagship series is debuting the third-generation ultrasonic fingerprint reader of Qualcomm. The tweet also claims that the Galaxy S23 is gaining a 3D Sonic Gen 3.

According to a recent report by 9to5 Google, it remains to be seen what improvements the new scanner brings to the table. But the 3D Sonic Max sensor is likely offering S23 users a larger scannable area than previous Samsung phones.

On top of that, Sam Mobile notes that the sensor also brings roughly five times more accuracy. Not to mention that it can also scan two fingers at the same time, making devices more secure.
