Apple AirTag's safety feature reportedly fends off a stalker in Iowa, who allegedly pretended to be the victim's
It seems the safety measures that the iPhone maker put in place to curb stalkers worked in a real-life scenario.

A man, who allegedly stalked a woman he claims to be his wife, has been arrested after Apple safety feature alerted the victim that a GPS device was tracking her.
Here's how the precautionary system helped catch her stalker.
Apple AirTag Safety Feature Reportedly Fends Off Stalker
The latest news story by 9to5 Mac reports that a 63-year-old man from Iowa has been arrested for allegedly stalking a woman using the item tracking device of Apple.
When the suspect gets caught, he claimed he is married to the victim. But it turns out that they never had any relationship.
According to a recent report by CW 39 Houston, the court records disclosed that the victim discovered that an AirTag is attached to her spare tire after her iPhone warned her that she was being tracked by the item tracker.
After learning that, the West Des Moines Police reportedly removed the AirTag from the vehicle. Then, the authorities brought the Apple tracking device to their station.
A day after the police took the evidence, the 63-year-old man showed up at the station. He arrived looking for the victim, who he claimed to be his wife.
To further prove that he was married to her, the suspect admits that he placed the AirTag. But he states that he only did so because he thought his "wife" was cheating on him. He claims that he stormed the station, thinking the victim was having an affair at the police station.
Multiple Attempts of Stalking Using the AirTag Tracking Device
Besides the first AirTag that the police recovered from the spare tire, two more trackers were apparently placed in the vehicle of the victim.
The victim reportedly learned that two more AirTag devices were following her after her iPhone alerted her despite giving the first one to the police.
CW 39 reports that the West Des Moines Police recovered two more AirTag devices. Both were placed on the spare tire of the victim's car. The first one was hidden in a wallet, while the other device was inside a plastic bag.
9to5 Mac states that this incident shows that the safety features of Apple for its AirTag work to fend off stalkers.
It is worth noting that the iPhone maker introduced the new safety capabilities of the AirTag last February. It comes after multiple stalking incidents using the device have been reported.
