One of the most surprising additions to the Valve Steam Deck is the famous action-adventure title from Naughty Dog, a game that centers on surviving the post-apocalyptic world invaded by zombies, "The Last of Us Part 1." It has been a massive wait for gamers, especially for the fans of the entire series who have requested the game's availability on the portable console.

The game is confirmed to arrive on the portable console by Naughty Dog, no longer centering on a PlayStation-exclusive distribution for the title.

Neil Druckmann revealed to the world that "The Last of Us Part 1" is coming to the Valve Steam Deck soon, and the Naughty Dog co-president confirmed this earlier today. In his latest tweet, he asks the public not to worry about the game's availability on the Steam Deck, with him confirming that Ellie and Joel will make an appearance on the console.

It only means that the company is already developing its remastered and compatible version for the Steam Deck as we speak. However, Druckmann did not reveal when would Naughty Dog drop the game for the public, with no release dates for its availability.

Also, the executive did not reveal whether Naughty Dog would be remastering the game using Unreal Engine 5, one that matches the current standards in the industry.

When is 'The Last of Us Part 1' Coming to Steam Deck?

According to ComicBook Gaming, while there are no confirmations for "TLOU Part 1's" release on the Steam Deck, initial leaks center on a March 3, 2023 release date. There are still more than three months to wait for the fan-favorite game, but it could be longer as Naughty Dog did not confirm anything at the moment.

'The Last of Us' and its Relevance Now

"The Last of Us Part 1" came out in 2013, and it gave the world a chance to experience Ellie and Joel's bond together as they came across each other's paths which led to both of their survival in the zombie-invaded world. Back then, people enjoyed its dynamics and experience in the game, making it one of the most unique games of its time.

Fast forward to more than seven years later, and Naughty Dog delivered "The Last of Us Part 2," it centers on a grown-up Ellie and continues the saga's story.

The sequel game is finally two years old, and it seems like the right time for Naughty Dog to branch out the game's availability rather than being a PlayStation exclusive. Many gamers have requested the title's multi-platform availability, but to no avail, until this recent expansion to the portable platform from Valve.

It is a success to have the game in the Steam Deck, but it still lacks its presence on the PC platform, Xbox, and Nintendo. Naughty Dog and Sony finally branched out to another console platform in the market, but users would have to wait until next year for its release, as revealed by the early leaks from the developer company's executive.
