Apple's New Pro Display XDR is now reportedly in the works.

Given that, the updated version of the 2019-released external monitor might see the light of day soon. And if you are unsatisfied with the current display offerings of Apple, this might change everything.

On top of that, the Cupertino-based tech giant is reportedly working on several new monitors up its sleeve.

Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman gave a glimpse of what the renowned tech firm is doing these days. It seems that the giant firm is focusing on monitors.

New Apple Pro Display XDR: Update Version in the Works?

As per the latest news story by The Verge, Apple is now working on the updated version of its Pro Display XDR, Bloomberg's Gurman revealed. The new monitor could potentially replace the first generation that debuted last 2019.

The journalist further noted that the updated Pro Display XDR is likely shipping with a built-in Apple Silicon chip. Gurman explains that it should help the new display to "rely less on resources from the attached computer."

It would not be at all surprising if the new Pro Display XDR sports the same chip that iPhones flaunt these days. The Verge notes in its report that the recently released Studio Display runs on an A13 Bionic chip, which we first saw in the iPhone 11 series.

With the iPhone chip stuffed in the external monitor, the Studio Display offers features not usually seen in rivaling counterparts.

Its speakers are pretty immersive, thanks to its spatial audio support. And for those who frequent video calls, the Center Stage feature helps users stay in the center of their frame. Siri also works, bringing various voice commands right off the bat.

All that said, the new Pro Display XDR might see similar features if the prediction of Gurman holds true.

However, the journalist says that the second-generation Pro Display XDR is only seeing the shimmer of the spotlight when the new Mac Pro arrives.

More Apple External Monitors Coming Our Way

According to a recent report by Engadget, Gurman went on to disclose that the Cupertino giant is also working on "multiple new external monitors."

So apart from the new Pro Display XDR, it looks like Apple is working to introduce a new exciting lineup of external displays.

The report offered that these upcoming monitors are sporting an Apple Silicon chipset. And as such, the new display might also come with new features, much like what we saw from the Studio Display.
