Health monitors and fitness trackers are ubiquitous in this time of modern tech.

Since they are very sophisticated, the issue is that they constantly bombard you with alerts in addition to just tracking your steps, heart rate, and such.

Good thing Nowatch offers a different approach. It provides many of the usual health-tracking functions. Instead of using a normal smartphone display, like Apple, Google, and Samsung devices, or a classic analog watch design, the firm substitutes it with various visually fascinating materials.

The Start of a New Business Venture

According to TechCrunch, the company wields the term "awareable" to describe itself, which alludes to its crusade against stress, anxiety, and overstimulation. CEO and co-founder Hylke Muntinga's run of poor luck and the discovery that he had a rare genetic disease were the catalysts for the startup.

"Five years ago, I lost six of my dear friends in one year. In those moments, you realize that life and death are so close together. Then two and a half years ago, I found out that [I was] going blind through [a] rare disease called PXE. That was a wake-up call not to get lost in distractions," Muntinga told TechCrunch in an interview at CES 2023 in Las Vegas.

In response, he launched Nowatch.

The gadget lacks a screen in favor of gem faces that are stylish and made from ethically produced materials. Inside the Nowatch is cutting-edge health monitoring software that works in the background without disrupting the wearer's day.

The Electrodermal Activity (EDA) Biosensing Technology included by Philips allows the gadget to detect and track changes in perspiration rates by analyzing electrical signals from the skin. The biosensing technique uses a safe microcurrent to monitor the time-varying electric conductivity between two points on the skin.

Muntinga emphasized that the possibility of checking the clock would just serve as an additional distraction.

He said that everyone who is serious about embracing modern technology and wishes to dress in a way that is both aesthetically pleasing and environmentally friendly would love Nowatch.

The Mechanism Behind it

The Nowatch is a smartwatch that monitors and alerts its user based on their unique biorhythms. It may make an assessment of the user's stress level and use gentle vibrations to bring the user's attention to their emotional outputs.

The watch can also evaluate your cognitive zones or mental capacities like your concentration, mood, and "stress fingerprint" using the data it collects.

An iOS or Android app serves as a point of contact between the wearable device and its user. The app displays the wearer's physiological data in real-time and provides helpful advice and insights to achieve better wellness.

There are a variety of sensors available, such as an accelerometer, temperature sensors, a barometer, and a red and green PPG (photoplethysmography).

Nowatch's battery may last four days, depending on usage, and costs $500. As of the next week, it will be for sale.

White Agate, Tigers Eye, Rose Quartz, Malachite, Lapis Lazuli, Labradorite, Falcon Eye, and Amethysts are available individually.
