TOKYO, JAPAN: This 08 October picture taken in Japan shows Japan's Matsushita Electric video game conole "SL-GC10" which is the compatible model of Nintendo's GameCube and can play DVD video. Matsushita annonced 19 October to put it on the domestic market 14 December with an estimated price of 40,000 yen (333 USD).

NYXI introduced its all-new third-party controller for Nintendo Switch gamers, which gives a retro vibe right off the bat.

NYXI Wizard Wireless Joy-Pad Switch Controller

As per a recent report by IGN, the third-party Switch controller maker, NYXI, unveiled its latest offering, which carries a similar design to the Nintendo WaveBird.

And as such, the new NYXI Wizard Wireless Joy-Pad sports a retro appearance, but it works for the latest Nintendo Switch hybrid consoles.

The controller comes in purple. What gives it more of a retro vibe is the yellow, red, and green buttons, along with the gray accents.

Besides its colorway, the overall look, especially its shape, mimics WaveBird Wireless Controller, which debuted back in 2002, at a time when the Nintendo GameCube was still a thing.

But do not be fooled by its retro looks, it comes with features seen in next-generation controllers these days. IGN notes that it sports tons of customization functions.

For instance, it comes with interchangeable joystick rings and remappable back buttons. It would be best if you are switching from one game to another. Or perhaps you might simply prefer a round joystick over its octagonal sibling.

And on top of that, the Wizard Wireless Joy-Pad, despite its retro look, lasts a couple of hours. NYXI touts that it lasts for around 6.5 hours before needing to be plugged in again.

No Joy-Con Drift?

Did we mention that it ditches the annoying joy-con drift? According to The Verge, the NYXI Wizard Wireless Joy-Pad boasts drift-free Hall effect sensors.

The Verge further notes that the Hall effect sensor not only gets rid of the stick drift, it also offers less dead zone. So it should Switch players by a lot.

People wait in line for a chance to sample new games for Nintendo Switch at the 2019 Electronic Entertainment Expo, also known as E3, opening in Los Angeles, California on June 11, 2019.

The news outlet notes that the Hall effect sensor is not entirely new. In fact, Sega first dropped it for its Sega Saturn 3D controller. It also saw the light of day in the Dreamcast controller.

The sensor is the solution for the frustrating stick drift issue. Luckily, NYXI stuffed its new Switch controller with it. With that, it should last longer than most offerings out there.

So the new Wizard controller leaves a nostalgic vibe thanks to its WaveBird-like design. Not to mention that it ditches the joy-con drift issue found in other Switch controllers these days.

If you are itching to get your hands on this controller, the NYXI Wizard Wireless Joy-Pad is now available at the NYXI website for only $69.
