It can be recalled that the electric truck was unveiled in October 2021. Now, the company is ready to start making more sales in the UK and Europe.

This will be the first 7.5t electric truck in the UK as the company is the first to secure the European Community Whole Vehicle Type Approval for this specific truck. The company had to go through a rigorous process involving 30 system tests.

Ready for Last-Mile and Urban Delivery

The electric truck is designed for last-mile and urban delivery with 140 miles of range powered by its 105 kWh battery on a single charge. Moreover, it can carry up to 15 Euro-pallets, and has a battery charge time up to 90 percent in five hours.

They are currently being manufactured at the London Thames Freeport. Tevva has started to deliver the first mass-produced electric trucks to customers, and they expect to sell up to 1,000 electric trucks in 2023.

Later this year, the 7.5t electric truck will be followed by a 7.5t hydrogen-electric truck with a range of up to 354 miles and a battery charge time of 90 percent, while the H2 refueling time is ten minutes.

ICE Vehicles Will Be Banned in the UK from 2030

The UK government has announced that they will ban the sale of all ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) vehicles starting in 2030. This move is part of the government's plan to cut greenhouse gas emissions and ensure the safety of the nation's roads.

As part of their plan, the government will fortify the country's electric vehicle charging infrastructure, as well as invest in research to develop vehicle technology.

The government also plans to work closely with the automotive sector, local governments, and other stakeholders to help develop cleaner and safer transport solutions.

The UK government aims to take advantage of the current popularity of electric vehicles by prioritizing the deployment of stations across the UK. This will make sure that electric vehicles will be available for sale, as well as for companies that provide commercial and retail services.

More Electric Trucks are Coming

In the UK, electric trucks are still a niche segment, but the market is expected to grow significantly in the next few years.

With the UK government's investment push for more green vehicles, as well as the rising demand for parcel delivery, electric trucks are expected to become more mainstream. This move is expected to help accelerate the sales of electric trucks.

The success of Tevva's electric trucks will pave the way for other companies to develop their own models and follow suit.
