Unexploded Grenade in Ukrainian Soldier's Chest Successfully Removed

Hanna Maliar, the deputy minister of defense of Ukraine, posted a photo of an X-ray scan, which show the explosive weapon inside the soldier.

Miliar shared that "military doctors conducted an operation to remove a VOG grenade. The deputy minister of defense added that it did not break while the surgeons were removing it from the body of the Ukrainian soldier.

How Did They Carry Out the Operation?

The deputy minister of defense adds that the surgeons carefully considered the operation method that they are carrying out to handle the explosive weapon.

And as such, they had to move forward with the surgery without using "electrocoagulation." The Guardian explains that it is a method that should help control the bleeding during an operation.

The surgeons decided to skip this common method due to the fact that the "grenade could detonate at any moment," explains the deputy minister.

Meanwhile, The Guardian notes in its report that the internal affairs ministerial adviser, Anton Gerashchenko, said that the operation would "go down in medical textbooks."

Gerashchenko posted an update on the surgery on Telegram, announcing that the operation has been nothing but successful.

The Telegram update disclosed that "the grenade did not explode but remained explosive."

The internal affairs ministerial adviser adds that "there have never been such operations in the practice of our doctors."

So it looks like it is the first time that the surgeons of the Ukraine military have carried out such an operation, which ended up successful anyway.

Gerashchenko believes that the patient is only 28 years old, as he cited the communications adviser to the commander of the medical forces of the Ukraine military, Yevgenia Slivko.

The deputy minister says the soldier is currently undergoing further rehabilitation after the successful surgery.
