Apple has announced that the next significant design modification on the iPhone 16 Pro will be the Dynamic Island camera space, replacing the notch found on the previous iPhone models.

According to the story by Giz China, this is just the latest development in an industry-wide trend of phone manufacturers adopting notches and punch-hole designs for their handsets' front cameras and sensors. 

For example, Samsung has already started pioneering this technology on their phones, even though the under-screen sensor and camera technology work is still ongoing. Recent reports have suggested that Apple is getting close to its own under-screen camera-ready iPhones. 

Face ID Sensors will be Spotted Under the Screen on the New Phones

They have stated that Face ID sensors will be hidden under the screen on their newest phone models, though for a limited time, the camera will still be visible in the form of a tiny camera hole in the display, as seen on Twitter. 

The Technology was Initially Introduced with the Samsung Galaxy Fold 4 Model

However, Apple aims to fully do away with the camera hole and Face ID sensors, as initially noted on The Elec. The punch-hole camera design that will come with the iPhone 16 Pro versions is only a temporary solution before they transition fully to an under-screen camera and Face ID.

This technology has already been successfully introduced to the market with Samsung's Galaxy Fold 4 model, but with lower quality than hoped. Apple is likely to wait until the technology is fully developed before launching a phone with an effective under-screen camera.
