Previously, Tapbots launched its new Mastodon client app called Ivory. Aside from this company, here are other developers moving to Mastodon:

  • Fenix's developer Matteo Villa (testing a Mastodon client called Wooly)
  • Spring's indie developer Junyu Kuang (developing a Mastodon client called Mona)

Mastodon CEO Eugen Rochko thanked developers who considered transferring to Mastodon.

"It's exciting because it means that a lot of very talented people are investing their time and resources into building on the platform and ecosystem that we have built up," he said.

Rochko added that third-party apps are important since power users go to them.

Mastodon Vs. Twitter

MakeUseOf reported that Mastodon is a "true rival" of Twitter.

That's a fact since Mastodon and Twitter have lots of similarities. These include relying on short messages, timeline format, hashtags, etc.

However, they also have many differences. For example, Twitter is owned by a single company, while independent servers managed by different groups maintain Mastodon.

Aside from this, Mastodon also doesn't allow ads or any form of promotion on its platform. When it comes to content, the posts of Mastodon are considered to be more tech-savvy.

Because of this, the company was forced to conduct cost-cutting efforts, such as auctioning Twitter office assets
