Minte Artists' NFT Works Ready to Lift-Off for Lunar Mission via SpaceX Rocket

Hong Kong-based digital art platform Minte Art will send artworks from two artists on the moon as part of the first non-fungible token (NFT) lunar museum. The artwork will be sent through a SpaceX rocket.

Launching NFT Works to the Moon

Minte Artists Guille Blancarte and Carlos Segovia Alanis are among 222 artists selected to join the Lunaprise Moon Museum. According to South China Morning Post's report, the two artworks are ready to lift off via SpaceX rocket.

The lunar mission will offer the company its greatest visibility with only the smallest possible medium. The artworks will be etched onto nano fiche disks to be included in the museum. This process makes them indestructible but only viewable through a microscope.

The artworks of the two Mexican artists have been chosen because of the partnership between BitBasel and NFT company Space Blue. The two companies collaborated with Luneprise owner Galactic Legacy Labs and Arch Mission Foundation.

Both artists never anticipated having their artworks be launched as NFTs. Alanis stated that creating work for a virtual world is different from working with murals and monumental pieces. Meanwhile, it was more of a natural progression for Blancarte to put her work on a blockchain.

"Hong Kong is a nest of innovation, on par with the USA or Europe, for creativity. It is a land of revolutionary opportunities for any market, and even more so for the creative market," Co-Founder Marcela Barros stated. Barros lives in the city along with co-founders Mireya Garcia and Andrea Estrella.

Garcia added that the inclusion of NFTs in the launch is a commercial enterprise and a sign that digital arts is not just a phase and has a stable place in the growing international community. "NFTs revolutionized not only the art movement but the way we express and view art and created even bigger possibilities for artists," she added.

For Estrella, choosing Hong Kong as the company's base creates a more favorable market for virtual asset investors. She said that the city has the potential to be a rising hub for art and innovation, where collected with huge buying power can be connected with artists from the West.

The founders want to bridge the Latin America and Chinese cultures. But as of the moment, they have yet to make plans to enter the mainland market, where NFT regulations are more complicated than in other countries.

Minte artworks is scheduled to launch at the end of June as a part of Intuitive Machines' IM-1 mission, along with a Nova-C lander transported by a Space X Falcon 9 rocket.

According to Space News, Nova-C was developed as a part of NASA's Commercial Lunar Payload Services program. The IM-1 launch comes a couple of years ahead of NASA's 2025 lunar landing, making it the first in the last 50 years.

Last June 2022, Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission stated that several NFTs investment products must be regulated and licensed, as it is comparable to securities or interests in a collective investment scheme (CIS). This will make NFT makers undergo authorization requirements to obtain licensure.
