If you've been considering making the leap to a phablet but don't want to spend a lot, Amazon has a new deal. The Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is available for $1.00 when signing a new 2-year contract.

There was a time not too long ago when smartphones with 4-inch displays were considered to be on the large side. Steve Jobs famously said in 2010 that Apple's 3.5-inch display found on the original iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and iPhone 4 was the perfect size and that no one would not want to buy phones with big screens. Samsung and other Android licensees were getting ready to release smartphones with displays sized at 4-inches and larger at the time of his statement. He also described the upcoming rival handsets as "Hummers" because of their size.

Samsung, HTC, and others proved Apple wrong and the company's first phablet, the iPhone 6 Plus, is currently one of the top selling jumbo-sized smartphones on the market. Samsung has more experience when it comes to creating phablets and if you're looking to take the plunge but don't want to spend much, Amazon is offering the 32 GB Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 3 for $1 when signing a new 2-year contract. This is a considerable savings over the $99.99 Verizon is charging for a preowned Note 3 with a new 2-year contract.

The Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 3 features a bright and crisp 5.7-inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 386 pixels per inch (ppi). The phablet is powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core Quacomm Snapdragon 800 processor, Adreno 330 graphics processing unit (GPU), and 3 GB of RAM. It includes 32 GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot that will support up to 64-GB microSD cards.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is packing in a 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash, 2160p video recording at 30fps and a 2-megaixel front-facing camera for video chat and selfies. The phablet ships with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and will be receiving a free update to Android 5.0 Lollipop in the near future. Its large, removable 3,200 mAh battery will provide up to 24 hours of use and up to 504 hours of standby time. Since the phablet is part of Samsung's Galaxy Note series, it includes the company's innovative S Pen stylus, which allows users to easily jot down notes, crop images, and more.

If you're interested in purchasing the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 3, head over to Amazon where you can score the phablet in Black or White for $1 when signing a new 2-year contract.
