Nintendo releases Switch System Update 16.0.0, rolling it out to the users of its hybrid gaming console after four months of no new firmware updates.

With the new Switch update, the Japanese gaming juggernaut bumped up the version number from 15 to 16.

But despite that, the patch notes, which reveal what the latest release brings, gave scarce details on the new version 16.0.0.

Nintendo Switch System Update 16.0.0 is Now Live

As per a report by Nintendo Life, the renowned gaming giant has started dishing out a new Switch System Update 16.0.0.

Like Sony and Xbox, Nintendo provides consistent firmware updates to its Switch gaming console to bring new features and overall performance improvements. Gamers only have to download these releases online to get their hands on a few refinements and additional functionalities.

However, it is worth noting that it has been a while since Nintendo rolled out a system update for Switch players. In fact, My Nintendo News highlights that four months have passed since users got a new update.

But after the wait, the new firmware update for Switch gamers is now available to download and install.

Besides releasing the new update, the Japanese giant went on to publish the patch notes of version 16.0.0, giving us a glimpse of what to expect from the latest release.

What's New in the Latest Switch Update

The patch notes of the new Switch update version 16.0.0 highlights two notable changes, which should improve the overall experience of its gamers.

First off, the latest version adjusted the nicknames mechanics on the gaming console. And on top of that, the new update also provides "stability updates," which makes the gaming experience better than before.

Nintendo says that "user nicknames that cannot be used will be replaced with '???.'" If Switch users want to update their nicknames, they may do so via the profile settings on the gaming console.

The patch notes say that the update also offers "general system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience."

So expect this update to improve the overall stability of the Nintendo Switch once you have installed it.

How to Install Switch System Updates

The gaming giant says the Switch should "automatically down the most recent system update while it is connected online."

As such, make sure the hybrid gaming console is connected to the internet to get your hands on the new Switch system update.

Meanwhile, Nintendo recently released Game Boy and Game Boy Advance titles to Switch Online subscribers. And it turns out that the Japan library is more packed.
