Apple remains dominant in the tech market as more users continue to patronize iPhones, iPads, and more gadgets. As the competition becomes stiffer, companies should devise their plans and arrive with products that have unique features than the rest.

The latest report reveals that the Cupertino giant's dominance can be dictated by the Gen Z population. The surprising part about this: it's all attributed to their fear of being a "green bubble guy" in group chats?

What does this mean?

Apple's Dominance Is All About Gen Z's Participation

The booming number of Gen Z users who prefer getting iPhones might pose some challenges for Android smartphone makers, according to the latest report.

In a report by Financial Times, more young users are currently choosing iPhone and other Apple-made products as their personal devices over any other brands.

For the past years, American youngsters tend to follow a "generational shift" for their gadget preference with Apple being their number one choice ahead of Android.

The Gen Z population or those people born after 1996 are seen to have strong desire to own an Apple handset or wearable.

It's noteworthy to mention that 34% of the iPhone owners under this group want to get an iPhone. It's much higher compared to those Gen Z users who prefer obtaining a Samsung smartphone (10%).

Based on this trend, the younger generation is expected to buy Apple smartwatches, Macs, and AirPods rather than their Android versions.

Apple Is Creating Its Own Ecosystem For Gen Z

Because there's a huge tendency that a Gen Z will prefer an iPhone over a Samsung Galaxy or Google Pixel handset, this means that they are likely to stick with the same line.

Apple has established a strong presence in the industry by improving the overall design of its ecosystem for young customers.

In short, for every 100 iPhones sold globally, the company manages to sell 35 pairs of AirPods, 26 iPads, and 17 Apple Watches, Canalys wrote in its report.

Meanwhile, Samsung only sells six pairs of earbuds, six smartwatches, and 11 tablets for every 100 Samsung smartphones sold to the public.

The interesting part here is that Gen Z users are not practical in their spending. They still prefer purchasing an iPhone despite the fact that it's more expensive than an Android unit.

One reason why Gen Z is so active in buying is their access to online shopping. Macrumors reported that on average, this group spends up to six hours daily just using their iPhones.

What's Gen Z's Fear of Green Bubbles

The "fear of green bubbles" among Gen Z buyers shouldn't be literally taken. It's not all about the real bubbles we see in our bathroom.

This phrase means that Gen Z is more prone to social pressure than any other group. Since green is the main color of iMessage, the visibility of the platform can be seen by everyone in the group chat especially if all users revert to SMS.

"A green message anyone with an Android throws off the entire chat because now the whole thing has to be SMS. So the social pressure to get an iPhone is pretty insane" Frontman's chief executive Annelise Hillman said in a report by 9to5Mac.

For those unfamiliar with the company, Frontman is one of the leading cosmetics brands which specializes in the grooming needs of men.

At one time, Apple was planning to make iMessage available on the Google Play Store. However, the tech titan decided to ditch it after learning that it will only become an obstacle in the long run for families who want to give iPhones to their children.
