Meta Verified successfully debuted in Australia and New Zealand on Feb. 24.

Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram social media platforms, introduced a new paid membership tier last weekend called Meta Verified, which is now accessible to users in Australia and New Zealand.

By 6:30 PM on Friday, Feb. 24, Sydney time, the corporation started rolling it out, TechCrunch reported.

The new paid membership offers several benefits. These include a trusted seal, an expanded audience, increased security against impersonation, direct contact with helpful staff, and special stickers for use on social media sites like Facebook and Instagram.

A summary of the subscription's perks and how to sign up are provided on Meta's dedicated webpage for interested parties' perusal. The plan is being rolled out gradually, so some customers may not notice the option to join and pay for it immediately at once.

Famous vs. Verified

A Meta Verified plan purchaser must be above the age of 18, have a recent activity history including posting, and have a profile picture that matches the photo on their provided official ID.

If a subscriber wants to update their profile information, such as their name, username, birthday, or profile image, they will need to cancel their subscription and reapply to Meta.

The corporation is also redefining its blue check mark on the site. It does not eliminate check marks for well-known profiles as Twitter does, but it does change their meaning. A previous description of the check mark by Meta read, "a tool to help people find the real accounts of public figures and brands." Now it says, "...for people and brands."

In a statement to TechCrunch earlier this week, the firm said it would begin displaying follower numbers in more locations to distinguish between significant profiles and Meta Verified members.

"The blue badge will look the same as we evolve the meaning of the badge to focus on authenticity."

Price Rate

The monthly fee for the Meta Verified plan is $11.99 on the web and $14.99 on iOS or Android, making it a paid service ideal for both personal and business use.

It is important to note that Instagram users must subscribe to a different plan in addition to their Facebook subscription. But currently, the only Facebook subscription option is for the web only.

An account-linking option is something the firm plans to provide in the near future.  It opens the possibility that the subscription may eventually include both services.

If you want Meta Verified on both platforms, you will need to shell up to $27 monthly. To compare it with other services, Netflix's premium plan is $19.99 per month, and Spotify's premium individual subscription is just $9.99 a month.
