Linux desktops offer capabilities not seen in Windows or Macs, which should convince you to switch!

Linux has had a worldwide user base since the mid-1990s. Computer science students, hackers, and programmers utilized Linux to replace Windows. It was meant for serious business.

Linux is everywhere: cellphones, vehicles, supercomputers, appliances, PCs, and servers. It controls most of the Internet, all 500 top supercomputers, and stock exchanges.

Linux is not only superior in flexibility, reliability, and security, but it is a great deal of joy to work with, too!

If you were to ask ZDNet, Linux is much more versatile than other operating systems (OS), a.k.a Windows and macOS. A Linux desktop gives you access to features not available in different OS.

Let this list of benefits persuade you to give Linux a go.

Options

Linux gives you options. You may switch to a Windows, Macintosh, or another desktop environment in minutes.

If you do not like GNOME and use Ubuntu Linux, you may install KDE Plasma, Xfce, Pantheon, Budgie, Enlightenment, or other desktop environments. That is part of Linux's charm. Don't like it? Change it.

Several desktop distributions make the hard decisions for you: kernel, bash shell, startup service, and network manager. Some versions restrict certain choices to avoid overwhelming users. Yet, even those distributions may be modified.

Repair Hardware

When Windows 11 was introduced, many consumers found out that their three-year-old computer would not support it. Linux differs. Lubuntu and Linux Lite are designed for outdated hardware, although they can also run on newer machines.

You may have a five-year-old machine in a cupboard that you thought would be recycled. Install a lightweight Linux on your old system and watch it operate like a champ!

Forget Lock-ins

Vendor lock-in plagues Windows and macOS. Windows 11 works Windows-style, and macOS follows the Apple method. Meanwhile, Linux allows customization.

In other words, you may customize the desktop to suit your requirements and productivity. Customization is available in most Linux distributions.

No-Reboot Updates

If you have ever upgraded to Windows or Mac, you know that the process requires a reboot. Sure, you would rather utilize that time productively. That is another reason Linux is better.

Linux lets me fully update while working on the desktop. In truth, most Linux distributions merely need a reboot following kernel upgrades. Otherwise, you keep using the OS while the update processes in the background.

Launch Windows Programs and Other Apps for Free

WINE allows Windows applications to run on Linux. Wine is a program that may be downloaded and installed through Linux's app stores to run Windows programs under its OS.

Meanwhile, several people claim Linux does not have software. They are incorrect. Linux has hundreds of free apps in the GUI app store. Snap and Flatpak allow Linux users to install proprietary software like Zoom and Spotify easily.

Unmatched Dependability

Since Linux provides all the necessary troubleshooting tools, fixing an issue is usually as simple as reading a log file.

With Linus OS, you may experience troubles very seldom. Hacked server? Do not worry. It is unusual. Most of the problems you may encounter can be solved in minutes.
