The last couple of years has highlighted a number of challenges within the transportation and logistics industry. So much of the global economy is dependent upon the efficient movement of goods around the world, but even with a high level of importance, there aren't nearly enough tools and technologies to serve that industry. Aimed at helping truckers and other transportation experts cut down on per diem and demurrage fees by making it easier to track containers and materials, BlueCargo applies data and technology to a long-standing challenge in this vital industry.

Jeremy Octeau is a full-stack software engineer at BlueCargo, and since he was brought onto the team, he has made a number of critical contributions. His expansive technical skillset allows him to enhance the front-end user experience of the platform and its mobile application, as well as streamline and optimize the back-end data structures. When programmers only focus on one aspect of development, there can be a disconnect between what's happening "under the hood" and how that presents outwardly, but Jeremy's expertise perfectly merges those components, making BlueCargo the most robust solution possible.

With a formal education in computer science, at both an undergraduate and graduate level, Jeremy could have chosen to focus on a more niche area of development, but instead, he went the route that would challenge him the most and have the potential for the greatest impact: full-stack development. He's an expert in multiple programming languages, including Python and NodeJs, but that's just the beginning. Jeremy is also well-versed in MySQL, PostgreSQL, JS, HTML5, SCSS, CSS, React, Angular2+, and more.

Jeremy's contributions to BlueCargo have been vital to its success; with the right tech stack and solutions, BlueCargo secured Series A funding of $11 million, which is a very successful first-round outcome. With Jeremy's ability to improve the customer experience, expand the platform's offerings, and process data more efficiently, BlueCargo is better equipped to serve its ever-growing customer list and expand into new markets when opportunities arise.

For many developers, having a career as a middle level employee is more than enough, but Jeremy is a talented manager, and he hopes to continue refining his leadership skills. Prior to BlueCargo, Jeremy worked at CitizenNet, a Condé Nast Company. Though the organization was very large, he moved up through the ranks quickly, and, at the age of 25, was given the opportunity to lead a team of 4 developers. Excited and ready, Jeremy took the role. Though it came with a whole new set of challenges, it was one of the most rewarding professional experiences he has ever had.

Jeremy continues to set a higher bar for himself; constantly taking on new projects, solving real-world issues, and expanding his own capabilities. These factors set him apart from those around him. He loves that software engineers can enter new industries and sectors all the time, finding new challenges and new people to serve. The idea that careers have to be stagnant or boring was never one that Jeremy subscribed to, and now, he finds fulfillment every single day.

Though considered very young in his career, Jeremy has made more of an impact than many people hope to in their entire lifetimes. He not only improves the industries he serves, but he's sure to help shape the future of software engineering by mentoring and teaching those around him. Bringing an extensive array of soft and technical skills to any role, the full impact Jeremy will have throughout his career will certainly make him remembered by the tech community
