Ever wondered about the local restaurants you find in Uber Eats and notice they have the same menu as others? That may be a "Ghost Kitchen" you found, and apparently, they are widespread in the app, which is why Uber Eats decided that it will remove as many as thousands of these spam accounts in the platform, to help with its performance.

Virtual Kitchens in Uber Eats are not all spam accounts or fake, as some are legitimately operating out of their own homes, startups, or corporations that want to branch out their food delivery systems.

As first reported by The Washington Post, there has been a massive problem that Uber Eats had faced over the past, and this is the emergence of "Ghost Kitchens" in the app. The company aims to address this problem and its solution is to remove these virtual kitchens from listing their menus and services in the app, particularly for those who have multiple copies in operation.

Some might have similar menus but different logos or company names, but all-in-all, these accounts have the same operation and they are the entities that Uber Eats wants to remove.

The company also claimed that it is setting new standards in launching virtual kitchens to sell via the app, one that would help the company avoid the same problem over time.

Spammy Uber Eats Experience No More in this Crackdown

According to The Verge, this problem led to the app facing significant performance concerns, being spammy in terms of customer use, which has been a problem for a long time.

Their solution aims to streamline more of its app's processes for customers who are ordering via virtual kitchens, to help deliver an effective service to all.

Uber Eats and its Food Delivery System

Uber Eats is a known service within the Uber app, a known ride-hailing company mostly focused on logistics and public transportation to bring people, packages, and food to different locations. The world of ride-hailing is what we live in now, and this has become an efficient way to get deliveries, and for people to earn a living as a side job or one's full-time.

One of the many features of Uber Eats is its expansion in the country, one that centers on allowing people to order via its nationwide shipping with partner merchants across known cities in the US. People who have cravings from different states may now order their preferred food in New York, Los Angeles, and Miami, to satisfy their wants.

The likes of Uber Eats, DoorDash, and GrubHub gave the public a way to order their food online, without the need to go to physical stores to dine and eat. However, with the rise of Uber Eats, there have been people who took advantage of it to spam their way of making money, but that is something that the company aims to address with this crackdown on the mysterious Ghost Kitchens.
