It all started when Tesla Diva (@TeslaDiva99), a beta tester, posted her experience on Twitter on Wednesday, Mar. 29.

Her viral tweet was able to generate over two million views and 5,300 likes. Based on her Twitter post, the beta tester left her two kids in her Tesla EV. After that, the electric car instantly shut off.

For other EV owners, this is not a big deal. But, for parents, this is a very alarming problem, especially those with infants.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk uses his mobile device as he sits in the car arriving to the construction site for the new plant, the so-called "Giga Factory", of US electric carmaker Tesla in Gruenheide near Berlin, northeastern Germany. - The site still has only provisional construction permits, but Tesla has been authorised by local officials to begin work at its own risk.

The Model 3 owner added that although there are already safety features, such as Dog Mode and Camp Mode, those capabilities should be turned on before leaving the car.

"Those features are there but you have to turn those on before leaving the car.. no one is going to do that if they forget a child or pet is in the vehicle," said Tesla Diva via her official tweet.

Because the incident was a serious matter, the beta tester asked Elon Musk and his Tesla team if they can do something to detect if there are people in their EVs.

Of course, Elon Musk said that they will work on a new safety feature to solve this problem.

Tesla Interior Camera Detection?

According to Teslarati's latest report, Elon Musk actively responded to Tesla Diva's tweet.

If you are a fan of the tech CEO, then you already know that he personally handles his official Twitter account; and he is very active in doing it.

Musk clarified that their Tesla EVs automatically keep the temperature within a safe range, even when they are off.

The billionaire added that this feature is designed to protect pets and infant passengers. But, he believes that keeping the car on for entertainment and comfort is more convenient.

Tesla's CEO further stated that this can be achieved if the camera inside the vehicle detects passengers.

Now, Musk said that they will make this change, hinting that there could be a new Tesla interior camera detection safety feature.
