A new feature from Meta is looking to expand Facebook Messenger's connection experiences, one that would allow people to enjoy different multiplayer games instead of talking on a video call. Facing people on video calls for casual talks would be great for communication, especially if they are away for some time, but some run out of words to say or stories to tell.

Messenger's latest feature will help brighten up conversations, and take the boredom away from the participants, which is somehow similar to what is available on Apple's iMessage.

Facebook and Facebook Gaming announced a new feature for Messenger users to enjoy, and it is the ability to play multiplayer games on video calls, right on the app. It helps set up users to enjoy the Messenger games in the app, without the need to download them from the stores and talk to them while on video chats.

This could be used as a past time, especially when conversational topics run out or when groups of friends get bored sharing the latest gossip or tea in social media and life.

FB Gaming's announcement claims that it is integrating its services with Messenger's video chat features, along with 14 games at launch that it will expand soon.

The games include "Exploding Kittens," "Mini Golf FRVR," "Words with Friends," and more.

Play Games on Messenger Calls, Like Apple's iMessage?

The games available on Messenger calls are only available on the iPhone, Android, and messenger.com web platforms for now, and would be accessible via the controller icon on video chats.

It is somewhat similar to what Apple offers with the iMessage, as it has a dedicated App Store that features games and other experiences to download and play with friends right on the messaging app.

Facebook Messenger and its Developments

Messenger is a known standalone app that centers on the previous Facebook Messages and chat feature, with a dedicated platform for all needs and communication feats. Meta has been adding significant features for Messenger in the past, and one example is the "Split the Bill" function where users may remind their friends in a group chat regarding the division of payment that works like a poll.

The Messenger app has different functionalities which make it par with many instant messaging and chat apps in the market, one that helps interconnectedness to Facebook friends.

One recent feature was made for group chats, where the public may silently send messages to a group without notifying other members, including other tags using the slash (/) function.

Talks regarding Facebook soon bringing back Messenger as the main app recently made uproars on the internet, especially as Meta previously forced the public to download the standalone app nine years ago.

Still, Messenger users may utilize the features and tech available in the app for now, with the multiplayer games available during video chats to ease boredom and lack of conversational topics.
