The Galaxy S23 series released last February came with a chipset tuned for Samsung's high-end series. The company decided to ditch its previous approach of releasing flagship phones with the latest Snapdragon chip from Qualcomm or the best Exynos chip made by Samsung.

Rumors of the Exynos 2400 Chip and its Potential Use in Other Devices

As a result, the 2022 Exynos 2200 is the last of its kind. Recently, rumors began circulating that Samsung might release an Exynos 2400 in the last quarter of 2023, which will boost power efficiency due to its advanced fan-out wafer-level packaging technology, or FoWLP.

According to the story by Phone Arena, despite these rumors, it is likely that Samsung will stick to the contract it has signed with Qualcomm for the coming years. In that case, the supposed Exynos 2400 chip is anticipated to be used in other Android devices, such as the upcoming Pixel 8 Pro.

Possibility of Samsung Using Special Silicon in Exynos Chips

It is also possible that some of the company's other phones, such as the Galaxy FE series, might also use the special silicon. Regardless, these rumors should be taken with a grain of salt.

It is too early to confirm as more information is needed to provide us with a clearer picture of Samsung's plans for its Exynos chips, as explained further in an article by Sam Mobile. Until then, we can only speculate and wait for concrete information to come out about the chip's release and potential uses.

Samsung's Shift Towards Using Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Chipsets Globally

The Galaxy S23 series released last February marked Samsung's first move towards having the same chipset globally on its flagship phones, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

For the years prior, users would get two versions of the same phone, one with Exynos chips from Samsung and the other with Snapdragon from Qualcomm. With this change in 2023, however, Samsung did not release a new generation of Exynos chips, leaving 2022's Exynos 2200 the last of its kind.

Rumors of Samsung's Return to Chip Development with Exynos 2400

Recently, though, there have been rumors that the tech giant might be bringing back its own chipset with the advent of the alleged Exynos 2400 in the last quarter of this year. Tech_Reve on Twitter claims this would be made possible with the help of an innovative packaging technology called fan-out wafer-level packaging (FoWLP).

He said this would help create thinner, higher-performance chips without printed circuit boards. Despite the hype, however, it is highly unlikely that Samsung will soon put the Exynos 2400 into their flagship phones.

For one, they already have a contract with Qualcomm that will go on for a few more years. That said, the chipset might make its way into other Android phones. The upcoming Pixel 8 Pro is a prime example, having been rumored to include Samsung's own chip, albeit modified.
