Delaying Release Date

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League has officially announced the delay of its launch, pushing the release to February 2nd, 2024. While this is only the second time delaying the game has been this year, The Verge reported that this becomes the third delay overall prior to the previous release dates.

As per the announcement, the game will be delayed for another nine months in order for the studio to work on providing the best quality experience for its players and fans. "Thank you to our amazing community for the continued support, patience, and understanding. There is much more to share in the months ahead," the statement added.

The game also promises to share more information in the coming months as they look forward to the fans seeing them in Metropolis next year, which is the open world of the game. The Suicide Squad game was revealed way back in August 2020, starring popular villains in the DC Cinematic Universe such as Harley Quinn and Captain Boomerang.

Kotaku reported that this will be based on a long-running series of comics regarding villains recruited by Amanda Waller to take on threats and complete missions. Additionally, this will also be connected to the Arkham games.

Previous Delays

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League experienced its first delay to adjust the game's availability in its public showcase for the title. Originally, it was supposed to launch in 2022 until Rocksteady Co-Founder and Creative Director Sefton Hill pushed back its date to May 2023.

There have been already multiple delays to the game, adding to the recent announcement, and fans are already frustrated with it. Just last month, Bloomberg's Jason Schreier reported that the previous delays were not the studios' intention to overhaul the whole gameplay as they will just be polishing what was already developed.

However, the game was showcased during a PlayStation event in February where it received backlash and criticisms from its fans regarding its service elements, including purchasable cosmetics and online game requirements. He added that the delay will also be focusing on fixing bugs and enhancing aspects of the game that was lagging behind.

Delaying the game several times is not a great look. But Game Spot reported that this release will not bother Warner Bros. Game as they have the biggest-selling title of the year under its belt with Hogwarts Legacy, after topping the sales charts in February and 2023 overall (so far).

Hogwarts Legacy reached a total of $4.6 billion in sales for its game content, hardware, and accessories, which is 6% high than at the same time in 2022. Circana, which is the leading advisor on the complexity of consumer behavior, noted that February 2023 marks the highest monthly year-on-year growth since October 2021.
