Players of the critically acclaimed rhythm-based game Crypt of the NecroDancer will be thrilled to hear news of its spin-off, Rift of the NecroDancer. Coming to Nintendo Switch this year, the game is set to bring an all-new challenge to rhythm gaming. 

Unleash the Power of Music to Face Off against Monsters in Rift of the NecroDancer 

According to the story by Nintendo Life, described as a Guitar Hero-inspired boss rush game, Rift of the NecroDancer differs from its predecessor in a few key ways. 

In the new game, players will help the game's protagonist Cadence in a story set in modern times, as they fight monsters pouring out of the Rift via lane-based combat and take on a variety of Rhythm Heaven-style minigames. 

A Brand-New Soundtrack Composed for the Game 

Players will experience all this with a brand-new soundtrack composed by Danny Baranowsky and collaborators expressly for the game. Players will also get access to mod support, online leaderboards, and much more.

The NecroDancer is back after first being announced for release on PC last summer, the Indie World presentation today has finally confirmed that this rhythm-inspired adventure game will be coming to Nintendo Switch later this year. 

Embark on an incredible Journey with Cadence 

Rift of the NecroDancer is a spin-off of the popular Crypt of the NecroDancer series. In this game, it's up to Cadence to travel through the modern world and repair the rifts that have torn her life apart. 

To battle their way through, players must use their rhythm to battle through lane-based combat as well as five Rhythm Heaven-inspired minigames. The game will come with a brand new soundtrack by Danny Baranowsky and other collaborators, mod support, online leaderboards, and more. 

Experience Crypt of the NecroDancer on the Switch: 2023 Release Date Announced 

Plus, there's an option for the Switch version for a four-player co-op. It's been tempting us for a while now, and we finally have a date for release - 2023 on Switch. Keep an eye out and let us know in the comments if players are looking forward to strapping in for this game.

Indie World presentation provided a delightfully groovy announcement: the much-anticipated sequel to Crypt of the NecroDancer, Rift of the NecroDancer, is coming to the Switch this year.

Rhythm Battles and Boss Fights Await Players in the Guitar Hero-inspired Boss Rush Rhythm Game 

The Guitar Hero-inspired boss rush rhythm game brings players into modern times as Cadence navigates the world while repairing the rifts that have torn her life apart. Fans can check out the game in an announcement trailer uploaded on YouTube.

To do so, players must battle streams of monsters and defeat powerful, musical bosses through one-two punch, all to the beat of a new soundtrack from Danny Baranowsky and friends. Fans can also check the game on the official Nintendo website.

Beyond rhythm battles and boss fights, the game also includes five Rhythm Heaven-style minigames that tie into the five characters and storylines. Through these, players help Cadence overcome the challenges of her current reality.
