Indie developer Oracle and Bone have made their eagerly anticipated follow-up to the award-winning A Summer's End - Hong Kong 1986 official. Entitled 'In The Ocean, I Learned To Float,' it is another groundbreaking and heartfelt story about love, loss, and resilience. 

Uncovering the Truth Behind Grace's Disappearance: Kay's Story in 1988 Hong Kong 

According to the story by Digital Spy, set in 1988 in Hong Kong, the game follows the story of Kay, as she attempts to uncover the truth behind the disappearance of her dearest friend Grace. 

With the help of a disco dancer and businesswoman, she discovers a terrifying secret the city's colonial history plays a pivotal role in the narrative. Oracle and Bone officially updated their Instagram regarding the development progress.

An In-Depth Adventure Game Experience with a 1988 Hong Kong Setting 

The developers have promised 'elements of investigation and exploration' alongside personal history and historical facts, allowing players to get immersed in the world of 1988 Hong Kong. 

While Oracle and Bone are keeping tight-lipped on specific details, they have confirmed that the game will be longer than A Summer's End and that some of the characters from that game may return in some form. Fans can learn more as described on A Summer's End website.

Re-visiting Characters Michelle and Sam in "In The Ocean I Learned To Float" 

The theme explored in 'In The Ocean I Learned To Float' are exploring the intersectionality of race, class, gender, and sexuality, as developer Charissa So and Tida Kietsungden revealed in a 2020 interview that they had plans to revisit their characters Michelle and Sam from the previous game. 

At the moment, there is no confirmed timeframe for the game's release, but Oracle and Bone have said that progress is 'steady' and hopes to be able to provide more information later in the year. 

Re-Introducing Michelle and Sam from A Summer's End 

With the promise of another emotional, thought-provoking narrative with beautiful artwork, 'In The Ocean I Learned To Float' should be an experience for players of all backgrounds to enjoy when it eventually comes out.

Oracle and Bone have also confirmed that a familiar face from A Summer's End will appear in the sequel. Although the developer has been tight-lipped on the character's identity, it is possible that we may be re-introduced to the iconic protagonists Michelle and Sam from the original game.

Although no specific release date has been nailed down as of yet, Oracle and Bone said they had had a "steady" development process.
