Nothing CEO Carl Pei certainly knows how to make a splash, as MWC 2023, which took place earlier this year in Barcelona, was awash in the buzz of mobile innovations from across the world. But of main highlight and immediate excitement to most amid the event was the sequel to Nothing's first foray into the smartphone universe, the aptly titled Phone 2, which is poised to set the world ablaze with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 series chip in tandem with loads of awesome new features.

On the heels of the Phone 2 announcement, Nothing has finally confirmed the release on Twitter, earmarking summer 2023 as the official launch window. The social media post features a two-second-long video of a blinking red light attached to the surface of a white device, though little can be made of the tease at the moment.

Additionally, exciting the masses that missed out on the Phone 1 release, the Nothing Phone 2 will be available for purchase in the US at launch. Nothing noted an updated sign-up page where interested consumers could easily get notifications on all things Nothing Phone 2 in the lead-up to its debut date.

Aside from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8-series chip, which Pei himself highlighted in an interview with Tech Crunch amid MWC, little else is known about the Nothing Phone 2, barring major theories and still-circulating rumors. The Phone 2 is set to appear similar in design to its predecessor, which featured a sleek and boxy design with an opened-out back plate showcasing the phone's innards, which is made all the more tantalizing with a few well-placed LED strips (that Nothing has branded the "glyph interface").

Nothing's original smartphone product debuted with an MSRP of £399 at launch in July 2022 in London. While no official US release made the rounds, a "beta program" was held in the US for those interested in purchasing a 128GB and 8GB of RAM model at $300, making it rather promising for those who are willing to jump ship from Apple's $1,000 plus asking price per new phone releases.

Depending on the overall specs and included features, the Nothing Phone 2 could easily sport a $500 asking price when it drops this summer. The most likely included specs on the Phone 2 will be 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, though again, this is entirely speculation. It could even sport a completely revamped display with a bit more real estate and a 120Hz refresh rate, mirroring its predecessor.

It will most assuredly be built on Android OS and have a much more powerful battery that could go as high as 4,700 mAh and a speedier wattage charging rate of 67W, allowing for a 30-minute or less fully-charged Phone 2 if the rumored specs are to be believed.
