Nvidia's RTX 4090 continues to show its potential as an overclocking powerhouse. After the recent success of OGS's frequency records, Cens has taken it further and become the first person ever to overclock the RTX 4090 to 3.825GHz with 3D stability.

A Spectacular feat Achieved by an Overclocking Enthusiast

According to the story by Tom's Hardware, Cens, an overclocking enthusiast, achieved this impressive feat using sub-zero liquid nitrogen overclocking and full load stress testing on the GPU. The result was a spectacular 18,701 points in Unigine's Superposition benchmark with a pot temperature of 190C.

This shows how good Nvidia's Ada Lovelace architecture is when used with the right overclocking techniques. Coupled with the already impressive power of the RTX 4090, overclocking enthusiasts now have even more reason to try and squeeze even more performance out of the GPU.

Users could see the 4GHz mark being broken soon, and if it is, then it could be thanks to Cens' world record. The setup used by Cens consisted of a Colorful GeForce RTX 4090 iGame LAB graphics card coupled with an Intel Core i9-13900K.

Achieving 3.825GHz Overclock with Z790 Dark Kingpin Motherboard

Cens opted for a Z790 Dark Kingpin motherboard for the testing, as it provides a lot of overclocking headroom for liquid nitrogen cooling. Due to its impressive 3D stability, the 3.825GHz overclock should be achievable with a range of hardware setups, and even those running air cooling should reduce the clock speed slightly to achieve 3D stability.

Indeed, Nvidia's RTX 4090 has shown just how far overclocking can take it. Users can only hope that today's success, and the encouraging frequency records set by OGS, will continue to inspire overclockers to continue pushing the limits of the GPU and even reach the elusive 4GHz mark.

Only time will tell, but one thing is certain - Cens has set a new world record with an impressive 3.825GHz overclock, and enthusiasts everywhere should be in awe of the results.

Comparing the ASUS Z790 Dark Kingpin and Apex Motherboards

The system used to achieve the record was an Intel Core i9-13900K processor running on a Colorful GeForce RTX 4090 iGame LAB graphics card on an ASUS Z790 Dark Kingpin motherboard. Fans can check the Z790 Dark Kingpin compared to the Z790 Apex in a YouTube video by Frame Chasers.

The GPU's temperatures at -34.6C kept the pot temperature under 190C, and the 8K optimized Unigine Superposition Benchmark ran an impressive 18,701 points. The 3.825GHz frequency record puts Cens in a league, as they have become the highest overclocker to reach 3D stability with a Turing-based RTX GPU.

It's unclear whether or not the recent World Record will remain unbroken for long or whether other overclockers can surpass it, but for now, Cens' achievement stands out amongst the pack. Only time (and some extreme cooling) will tell if the RTX 4090 can make its way past the 4GHz mark.
