New ‘Mouse’ Game on Steam is an FPS Game with a Dark Take on Old-School ‘Mickey Mouse’

In an alternate world, Mickey Mouse would not be the joyful rodent always giving children happiness, entertainment, and glee, and that is what you will see in the latest game from Fumi Games. This new game is called "Mouse" and it is already up on Steam, but not yet necessarily released to the public, with promising gameplay for those looking for a "jazz-fueled" FPS.

The design looks similar to a known cartoon from the past, and this is because it takes heavy inspiration from the original Walt Disney Mickey Mouse in black-and-white.

'Mouse' Game on Steam Takes Heavy Inspiration from Old-School Mickey

Mouse is now a title on Steam which gained traction for its bold design and development, centering on an old-school, black-and-white look throughout the game. The new title centers on classic FPS games in the modern age, also taking heavy inspiration from noir films.

The game promises a gritty experience, as it seemingly takes inspiration from rogue cops who like to take matters into their hands.

Looking at the game's trailer and screenshots, one may go as far as to say that it takes inspiration from Walt Disney's old-school design for Mickey Mouse, but is a darker approach to the child-friendly cartoon character.

Gamers will play as Detective John Mouston and step in his shoes in this first-person shooter game, to get rid of the city's corruption and dangerous organizations. There are many weapons available here including using one's hands, a hammer, a revolver, the Tommy gun, and more.

Heads are cartoonishly exploding as they are shot, and are rated "M" for mature audiences.

Fumi Games to Soon Release 'Mouse,' the Gritty FPS

Fumi Games is an indie game developing company, best known for being the developers and publisher of this new retro shooter game. The Steam listing of the game did not reveal any release dates as of the moment, and the company's website said that Mouse is still in production.

It features a "retro rubber house animation" and is not a guns blazing-centered game, as its campaign offers more to do and experience.

Best FPS Games in the Market Now

There are multiple FPS games available in the market now that offer a great experience and are highly-regarded by gamers, with one of the most popular being "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" for modern platforms.

Well, not much is said for its free-to-play multiplayer counterpart, "Warzone 2."

There is a significant game available for the Xbox console as well, and this is exclusive to the platform, with the 2021 "Halo Infinite," which was a historical release from 343 Industries. This game was released in celebration of the franchise's 20th anniversary, and surpassed 20 million players on launch, making it the biggest release of the series.

With FPS games being one of the top-regarded titles now with graphics-defying designs and development, there are still games that offer an old-school or retro experience, with one coming soon to the PC via Steam.

Mouse is a promising game if you are a fan of noir media, as well as playing someone similar to your favorite cartoon mouse as a detective bent on ridding the city of corruption.
