Sony's PlayStation Showcase revealed today the first extended look at Marvel's Spider-Man 2, including a sneak peek of gameplay showing both Peter Parker and Miles Morales. One of the most highly anticipated games of the year will arrive on PlayStation 5 in Fall 2023.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Trailer
Insomniac Games attended the PlayStation Showcase on May 24th, presenting a new trailer for the PS5 exclusive Marvel's Spider-Man 2. According to a report from Engadget, the trailer showed a gameplay that seamlessly flips between controlling Peter Parker and Miles Morales to handle a situation on two different sides of New York City.
It opens a scene with villain Kraven the Hunter, deciding to come to NYC to hunt down the two heroes. Parker is wearing the Symbiote Suit and using new abilities courtesy of the space parasite growing on him, while Morales features cool new tech like creating wires to walk across a platform to stay in stealth.
The trailer led to an Uncharted-Style set piece as Morales was dragged across New York by a drone. The Venom suit gives Parker an angsty behavior as a sign of Sumbiote's influence on him, based on the previous comics and movies. How he ends up with the suit remains unclear, which means it might become a big part of the new game.
Gameplay: What's New
The gameplay seems familiar to some, specifically the hand-to-hand fighting area. However, the new suit clearly features a ton of new moves during the whole chase through Queens. The map might also be bigger based on the gameplay as it covered most of Manhattan ad a huge portion of the chase sequence that took place on the water.
Kotaku reported that the original Spider-Man already made a convincing and massive version of New York City, which makes the sequel more interesting as we will see how the game expands on it. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 comes after the event of its first two games, the first franchise Marvel's Spider-Man, and the spin-off Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

Insomniac Games Senior Community Manager Aaron Jason Espinoza stated, "Our animators put the work in to deliver a much more impulsive Peter Parker, fitting for the symbiote bonded to his person, without sacrificing his combative finesse."
As per the PlayStation Blog, the most rugged enemies will be humbled by the new takedowns and the new combat animation will push Spider-Man's limits. Espinoza added that the whole team is excited to give its fans the first-ever glimpse of what they have been working on all these years, hoping that they are also thrilled with it.
No confirmations from the developers regarding the official release date but there is a big chance that we might get the game this fall. Insomniac Games stated that they hope to share a final date as soon as possible.
