A TikTok content creator reports that she got scammed by an unknown person who pretended to be working at Verizon. The scammer posed as an employee offering a bonus to the customers in the form of free Apple Watches.
TikToker Claims Verizon Scammed Her With a Big Bill
A woman claims that she got scammed by a Verizon employee after she discovered that her cell phone bill hit $600 just right after a free offer for two Apple Watches.
Browsing online with a lot of deals should be carefully done since not all websites are offering legitimate products. Everyone should pay attention if the offer is too good to be true or not. The same principle applies when you're dealing with someone in person.
According to Apple Insider, a woman brought up the issue on TikTok about the recent scam she encountered. The user named Meg says that she got scammed at Verizon after finding out that her bill reached $600.
Before anything else, she told her viewers that her family was on a family business plan at that time. In her mind, she thought that it was now the perfect time to upgrade their smartphones. Fortunately, an employee told them there's an ongoing promo where they can score two Apple Watches for free.
Apparently, the TikToker's mother had a hunch that the scheme was "too good to be true." The supervisor assured her that the Apple Watches were not the "top of the line" models and no cell gear was attached.
After the transaction, Meg's mother gave one pair of smartwatches to her daughter, but she was still hesitant if no strings were attached to the product.
At that time, the creator's mother discovered a fluctuation in the Apple Watch's price, although the employee promised them a price decrease in 23 months.
When the family finished gifting the watches, Meg saw their phone bill reach $600. To their surprise, her mom got back to Verizon to question the huge bill and found out that the Apple Watches have cellular service.
Meg could not do anything but pay money for the Apple Watches even though a Verizon employee advertised them as free.

TikToker Describes Verizon Scam as the Worst Experience of Her Life
In a report by Daily Dot, Meg uploaded a video on Sunday, May 28, that she got scammed by Verizon, and she couldn't believe the sky-high bill she received.

"Verizon only sells Apple Watches with cellular. They are free if you have a trade in; if you don't then, you have to pay for it," one commenter wrote.
Meg released a follow-up TikTok clip describing the recent incident as the "worst experience of her life." She decided to return to the store only to find out the same person who offered them the Apple Watch promo. She questioned the employee about the latest encounter, but the latter accused her of bullying even though she did not insult or call out anyone.
One commenter told Mega that she should contact consumer affairs in her state. The viewer added that the team would help her to deal with Verizon faster.
As of writing, the case is not yet resolved. Since scams are almost everywhere, it's always important to check the contracts of the deals before you sign up.
