A new safety feature is coming to General Motors' production cars and it will become standard for all the upcoming releases this year, with the first being the Automatic Emergency Braking or AEB. This feature will help users to avoid upcoming accidents by being the one to calculate or anticipate when to stop the vehicle to avoid a collision.

This will only be the first release from GM and it is taking this opportunity to introduce more safety features for its vehicles, and its future usage on the streets.

GM Adds a New Safety Feature to All Production Cars this 2023

GM has announced that it will be equipping its new car models, set to release this year, with a new safety feature called "Automatic Emergency Braking" (AEB). This technology, which is mandated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), will be available in all GM vehicles as part of the company's commitment to prioritizing safety.

GM has also revealed that AEB is just the first of five new safety features it plans to include in its vehicles for public use.

As per its statement, "GM has gone well beyond the safety commitment we made to our customers for the 2023 model year, with a handful of additional standard safety features shown to bring real-world results," said John Capp, director, Vehicle Safety Technology, Strategy, and Regulations.

While specific details about the other four features have not been disclosed, GM assures customers that they will further enhance vehicle safety and contribute to reducing accidents and injuries on the road.

GM's Automatic Emergency Braking is Required by the NHTSA

According to an AP News report, the NHTSA has mandated that all car manufacturers include AEB in their vehicles, recognizing its potential to significantly enhance road safety. By introducing this technology across its entire lineup, GM aims to make a positive impact on the safety of both its customers and other road users.

GM's Car Development

The second largest company that centers on EV development is GM, and it recently surpassed Ford in this milestone for its clean energy cars. Still, both companies trail to the world-famous Tesla from Elon Musk, but GM is not backing down from the fight, as the company promises to bring more developments in the future.

The introduction of these advanced safety features aligns with GM's broader vision of a future with zero crashes, zero emissions, and zero congestion. The company aims to lead the industry in implementing innovative technologies that improve safety and create a seamless and sustainable transportation experience for all.

By integrating these safety features into its new vehicles, GM is setting a benchmark for other automakers to prioritize safety and adopt similar initiatives. As consumers increasingly value safety in their purchasing decisions, GM's commitment to delivering advanced safety technologies is expected to resonate positively with prospective car buyers.
