Stray is Coming on Mac

Developer BlueTwelve Studio and publisher Annapurna Interactive urged fans to keep an eye on its Twitter accounts for the launch of the cat adventure game Stray on Mac. According to a report from Engadget, this will be available for Apple silicon models, including Macbook Air, Macbook Pro, Mac Studio, and more.

Previously, Stray is only available on Windows through Steam and PlayStation 4 and 5 since it was introduced in 2022. The game will take advantage of the Mac's MetalFX Upscaling for much-improved graphics performance with high-quality visuals.

However, this will not work on all Mac computers as the game will require users to have either Apple M1 or M2 processor. If you purchased a new Mac in the last two or so years, it is increasingly likely that you are able to play the video game on your own devices. Unfortunately, users will not be able to run the game if they have older variants like Intel-based processors.

Launch Date

As of the moment, there is no launch date for Stray on Mac as of yet but it is coming this year. 9To5Mac reported that Apple has been upgrading its game library on Mac ahead of next week's Worldwide Developers Conference 2023 keynote, which is where the company is expected to announce new products, including the virtual reality headset and the new Macbook Air 15-inch.

It also remains unclear if Stray will be available to play on the new Apple headset as it is expected to be revealed in the next few days. It is known that games are expected to be a big part of the headset's presentation and to run a part of Apple silicon chips.

Availability of Other Titles

For years, Polygon reported that Apple has been struggling to keep up with top-tier developers and high-quality titles to be available on their devices, which makes the Stray on Mac announced a feather in Apple's gaming cap. Even in 2023, many of today's most popular titles and indie gems are not guaranteed a Mac port.

Stray will be following the steps of the launch of No Man's Sky on Mac, after developer Hello Games claims to have worked closely with Apple to bring the game to life and supports the company's Metal 3 API to achieve console-quality graphics while maintaining battery life on laptops and lower-end devices.

Thanks to the power of its silicon chipsets, Metal 3 API, and MetalFX, their offerings have been changing and evolving. Apple Insider reported that these three aspects enable game developers to make more immersive and intense experiences while balancing the performance and battery life on Apple silicon.
