According to Phone Arena, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 was being sold with a massive $80 discount from its original price. That was reportedly close to a third of the wearable's total price.
The discount was spotted ahead of Amazon Prime Day and amid the Independence Day Sale, which saw the wearable device on sale for a 29% discount. It was reported that buyers could purchase the smartwatch for a discounted price on Amazon.

As seen on the Amazon listing, the device initially costs $279.99, but because of a 29% discount, or an $80 off, it is now being sold for just $199.99. However, this discount applied to specific colors and variations as the Pro Golf Edition remained above $400.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro Golf Edition originally sold for $499.99, but because of a 16% discount, it now sells for just $418.57, which is way above some of the other Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 editions.
Most Affordable Versions of the Galaxy Watch 5 Are the Navy / Mustard, Pink / Gold, and Silver Editions
Other premium versions of the Galaxy Watch 5 include the Gray edition, which was originally sold for $309.99, but because of a 26% discount, it is now being sold at just $229.00. Another Golf Edition, different from the Pro Golf Edition, also sells for $359.99, but because of a 22% discount, its price dropped to $279.99.
Some of the notable color variations that sell for $199.99 include the Navy / Mustard edition, the Pink / Gold edition, and the Silver edition. It was noted that the Blue and the Sand edition were originally being sold at $309.99, but because of a 26% discount, the price went down to $229.00, the same price as the Gray edition.

Another possible reason for the price change is also the change in sizes. As seen on Amazon, the $229.99 discounted price point was usually for the 44mm variations, while the $199.99 discounted price was for the 40mm variations.
