Microsoft has joined forces with Antstream Arcade, the world's largest retro game cloud streaming service, to bring an extensive collection of classic video games to Xbox consoles.

With an increasing focus on video game preservation efforts, this partnership aims to make over 1,300 retro games accessible to gamers while ensuring their preservation for future generations.

Antstream Arcade's vast library includes titles from beloved consoles like Commodore 64, Atari 2600, Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, and Game Boy.

GameRant reports that this collaboration marks a significant milestone for both companies, as Antstream Arcade becomes the first third-party cloud gaming service to launch on Xbox.

Preorders for the service are already open on the Microsoft Store, with the official release scheduled for July 21.

Preserving Gaming History

The gaming industry has witnessed a surge in efforts to preserve classic video games that risk being lost to time. Last month, we reported that Japan is doubling down on rescuing rare video game artifacts.

With a staggering 87% of old-school games currently unavailable commercially, companies like Antstream Arcade are stepping up to bridge this gap.

Antstream Arcade, founded in 2013 and boasting over 3,000 licensed titles, has become the go-to destination for retro game enthusiasts.

By partnering with Microsoft, the company aims to further its mission of preserving gaming history and making these iconic titles easily accessible to fans worldwide.

Preorders for the service are now available on the Microsoft Store, allowing eager gamers to secure their access to the nostalgia-filled world of retro gaming.

Antstream Arcade is already available on various platforms, including PC via the Epic Games Store, mobile platforms such as Android and iOS devices, and Amazon's app store.

Unleashing the Biggest Retro Gaming Drop on Xbox

The arrival of Antstream Arcade on Xbox consoles marks a significant moment for the gaming community. Not only will gamers have access to over 1,300 classic video games, but GameRant says this collaboration also represents the largest content drop in Xbox history.

Antstream Arcade provides a seamless gaming experience on Xbox consoles, allowing players to earn achievements, save progress to the cloud, and easily resume play.

Additionally, the platform tracks high scores online, enabling friendly competition among friends and participation in thrilling tournaments.

Embracing Gaming Nostalgia

Sarah Bond, corporate vice president at Xbox, expressed her excitement about the collaboration, stating, "Many of us grew up playing these games, so the ability to stream them on Xbox consoles and share these experiences with our friends and family is incredible."

Antstream Arcade's arrival on Xbox signifies a major step in preserving gaming history and embracing the nostalgia associated with classic video games.
