Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has released an interesting report about the lower-end iPhone 15 smartphones.

The standard version and the iPhone 15 Plus will likely have a 48-megapixel back camera that can capture more light. The lens will be equipped with a new tacked sensor design.

iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus Will Introduce 48MP Camera For Improved Image Quality, Kuo Claims
(Photo: Arnel Hasanovic from Unsplash) Tech insider Ming-Chi Kuo recently claims that the upcoming iPhone 15 models will feature a 48-megapixel camera. What does this mean?

As Kuo wrote in his Medium blog, Apple has been successful in surpassing the obstacle in the yield issues of the design of CMOS image sensors (CIS).

The insider says that Sony has played an important role to meet the Cupertino giant's demand for the product. With this, the tech firm managed to increase production by 100 to 120%.

This move has a ripple effect on its Android counterparts. While Apple sees an improving demand for image sensors, the supply has been decreasing on the rival platform.

As Kuo writes, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will feature a three-stacked sensor that is capable of capturing more light.

If this is the case, then we expect not-so-many things to happen other than the enhanced quality of the image. This is in line with Haitong International Securities' analyst Jeff Pu, per MacRumors.

The delay in the production of the iPhone 15 could also be attributed to the yield issues in sensors, according to Pu. Kuo wants to show that Apple finally solved the problem.

We could remember that the 48-MP camera is only available to both iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Bringing it to lower-end devices this time could offer more flexibility to the users.

In contrast, this is not what iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus got in 2022. Back then, they only featured a 12-MP camera lens.

Apple Plans to Increase Price for iPhone 15 Pro

With every underlying rumor featuring premium specs on iPhone 15, it's not questionable to see if Apple will increase the price of the upcoming smartphone.

As MacWorld reports, the lineup is expected to come later this year. Aside from the extreme delay, the iPhone 15 lineup is expected to be pricier than the previous models.

While this is annoying for the part of the buyers, you can actually have a smart preference for other smartphones in case your budget won't permit you to buy an iPhone 15.

As such, you can opt for a smartphone that's below $1,000. There are a lot of iPhone variants that are way cheaper than any other Apple device like a MacBook. Go for it and save some money for the accessories later.

Speaking of MacBook, tech journalist Mark Gurman said that a MacBook Pro with an M3 chip is about to drop in 2024. The prominent leaker teases that it will come in two variations: the 14-inch and the 16-inch model.
