Minisforum has dropped a new mini PC that comes with a GPU mount that allows users to upgrade their computer with advanced graphics. The company is a Hong Kong-based manufacturer that builds compact PCs.

Full-Size GPU Can be Mounted on the Mini PC on the Top of Its Chassis But This Comes with Some Issues

According to the story by PC Gamer, the manufacturer is reportedly working on what was described as a new ultra-compact but still powerful mini-gaming PC. It was also reported that the mini PC comes with a chassis volume that's just around six liters.

The mini PC reportedly comes with a full-size GPU on a chassis is difficult due to the size, requiring users to overcome some serious engineering challenges. However, the unnamed small PC comes with full-size graphics card support.

The article by PC Gamer also highlights how to get around the physical challenges of adding the graphics card to the mini PC's chassis. It was noted that to do this, all users have to do is place the card on the top of the Minisforum case.

This comes as the Minisforum mini-PC concept, which has not yet been named, comes with a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot which is located at the top of the case. The article notes that users will be able to see a slot with what looks like a mounting bracket on top of the small computer.

Risks Involved with Mounting an Expensive GPU on Top of the Mini-PC Via a Slot on Top

The images of the mini PC can reportedly be found on Minisforum's Twitter account and it shows a unique design. However, PC Gamer still expresses their concerns regarding the GPU card sitting at the top.

It was noted that a bump at the wrong angle could potentially result in something catastrophic happening. This could be very concerning, especially for GPUs that are extremely expensive to use like the RTX 3090 and other models.

Other Specs of Minisforum's Upcoming Mini PC Revealed

The article by Video Cardz highlights the mini PC as coming with AMD's Ryzen 7045HX Dragon Range as well as the Intel 13th Gen Core Raptor Lake-HX series. It was noted that the mini computers can come with up to 16 Zen4 cores or buyers can also choose an 8P+16E configuration should they decide to pack Intel.

It was also noted that the mini PC reportedly comes with a default power rating of 55W but still packs improved cooling. Because of this, users will be able to enjoy longer boosts as well as higher performance when compared to the traditional configuration of small laptops.

It was also noted that the company confirmed that both systems would come with support PCIe Gen5 specifications. It was also noted that the Mini-ITX board would be using at least the AMD B650 chipset.
