Mario is one of the biggest icons in gaming, starring in dozens of video games with millions upon millions of units sold over the years. While the world's most famous plumber is loved the world over, his story is never given much consideration. After all, the story of most Mario games can be boiled down to save Princess Peach (again) from the evil Bowser.

But that's not true, according to one Nintendo super fan. He's concocted an in-depth timeline that includes every Mario title, weaving them all together to form a coherent story that is pretty fantastic. Even if sometimes that timeline doesn't make much sense.

It all begins with the Yoshi's Island games. Mario and Luigi are both babies in these games, so that seems an obvious starting point. Then things get weird.

At some point (for unknown reasons) Mario and Luigi leave their home of the Mushroom Kingdom and travel to Brooklyn to work as plumbers and construction workers. Mario also brings along his pet gorilla, Donkey Kong, who then escapes and kidnaps a local woman. This is where the original Donkey Kong game comes in, followed by Donkey Kong Junior. Eventually Mario ships off the Kongs to an island, where the Donkey Kong Country series begins.

Bowser discovers Mario and Luigi are living and Brooklyn and sends an army of Koopas to attack them. This is the original Mario Bros. game. When the brothers return to the Mushroom Kingdom, Bowser kidnaps Princess Peach and the first Super Mario Bros. begins.

The timeline goes on and on, even incorporating all of the Mario spin-off titles like Mario Kart, Mario Tennis and more. After earning a fortune in New Super Mario Bros. 2, the video creator says Mario purchased a variety of companies to keep him and his friends entertained. But a life of luxury isn't for Mario. He strives for adventure. So he leaves it all behind and founds Mario Land, which is eventually taken over by Wario. After Mario takes back his new-found kingdom from Wario, the timeline ends.

It's crazy to think about how Nintendo could have  weaved more than two decades worth of video games across all kinds of genres into one cohesive timeline, though it still remains to be seen if this timeline is accurate. Until Nintendo definitively comes out with a timeline of their own, you can bet Nintendo super fans will continue to let their imagination run wild.
