After PayPal announced its plan for Apple Pay adoption in 2022, the new update is finally here for debit and credit card users.

Back in 2022, PayPal has already hinted at its plans to integrate the use of debit and credit cards with Apple Pay. Now, this was finally brought to reality thanks to the new announcement.

According to 9to5Mac on Thursday, Sept. 7, PayPal has extended support for Apple's mobile payment service on iOS.

With this move, purchasing items or making online transactions is now at your fingertips. You can just activate "Tap to Pay" on your iPhone right away.

Seamless Card Integration

With this recent development, PayPal users who have PayPal-branded credit or debit cards can seamlessly add their cards to the Apple Wallet app.

The functionality empowers PayPal's customers to enjoy the convenience and security of Apple Pay, a feature that has been readily accessible to users of various banks and card issuers for an extended period.

Setting Up a PayPal Card With Apple Pay

To get started with the setup process for your PayPal-issued card (if you want to use Apple Pay), just take note of the steps.

On the app's homepage, a conspicuous banner appears with the message "Pay with your iPhone." Tapping this banner initiates the Apple Wallet app, where users can effortlessly add their PayPal credit or debit card.

If you can't find "Add to Apple Wallet app" within the PayPal app, there's an alternative method you can try.

Just go directly to the Apple Wallet app and search for the "+" icon. You can see it in the upper-right corner. Once you click this, you can now integrate your PayPal card with Apple Pay.

PayPal Partners With Meta For Donation Projects

PayPal has confirmed on its official website that it partnered with Meta to support charities and enable donations on social media.

With this collaboration, donors can now support their favorite charities online on Facebook and Instagram. This feature will first roll out in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia.

This means that PayPal Giving Fund will expand to different markets other than the US. This way, even the trusted partners of the platform will benefit from this.

Charities enrolled in the program will get more exposure to millions of donors around the world. Receiving donations from the people and organizations is made easier.

The PayPal Giving Fund will take effect starting Oct. 31.

Will Venmo Get Apple Pay Support?

As expected, Venmo could likely adopt the same support that Apple gave to PayPal for platform-issued debit and credit cards.

While this remains a possibility, 9to5Mac reader Mike Frank says that the feature is still not live at the time.
