Nintendo has dropped the tasty bomb that "Paper Mario" series fans are longing to see. During the Nintendo Direct showcase on Thursday, Sept. 14, the Big N announced that the remake of "Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door" is currently under development for the Switch platform.

The upcoming game, which is originally from GameCube, is scheduled for a 2024 release, per The Verge.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door on Nintendo Switch

Originally released in 2004, "Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door" quickly established itself as one of the most iconic and cherished titles in the Paper Mario series. It carried forward the unique paper origami aesthetic from the N64 game while introducing new gameplay mechanics and an engrossing narrative.

The forthcoming remake will bring back the charming paper-crafted world and beloved characters while enhancing the visuals for modern hardware. Players can once again expect a captivating journey filled with paper-based creativity and imaginative landscapes.

Action-Based Battle System is Out of This World

One of the eye-catching features of the original game was its unique action-based battle system. Battles unfolded on a theatrical stage, requiring precise timing for attacks and defenses. This mechanic is expected to make a triumphant return in the remake, providing both nostalgia and excitement for fans.

While several Paper Mario titles have been released since "The Thousand-Year Door," none have quite replicated its magic and allure. This remake aims to recapture the essence of the beloved classic, offering both longtime fans and newcomers an opportunity to experience its brilliance.
