Through iOS 17, Apple has launched a new interface for its Podcasts app, which now comes with an updated Now Playing screen. It was reported that the updated app also comes with more search filters as well as a better Up Next offering.

Apple Announces the Connection of App Store Subscriptions to Podcasts

According to 9to5Mac, the company has just officially announced that it would be allowing the connection of App Store subscriptions to Podcasts with the help of third-party apps. With the new feature, Apple Music radio shows have reportedly become available in the Apple Podcasts app.

It was also revealed that although the paid podcast subscriptions were not new before the existence of the iOS 17, users had to use separate subscriptions for Apple Podcasts. With the help of the new API, users would be allowed to easily add subscriptions to Apple Podcasts.

New Feature Allows for Better Monetization of Podcasts Through a Subscription Model

An example of this feature is how users would be able to use a subscription-based app to show exclusive podcasts through Apple Podcasts. The shows would only be exclusive to paying users, blocking them from public access to non-paying users.

In order to display what users can do with the new feature, users can check out the Apple Music subscription with Podcasts. With the update, people with a valid Apple Music subscription will be able to scroll through Apple Podcasts and find all the original radio shows from Apple Music.

Users Can Access a Wide Range of Individual Shows without Commercials

In a recent press release, Apple explained that subscribers can listen to the whole catalog of radio shows on the Apple Podcasts. The shows would be without commercials, and users would be able to keep track of individual shows.

Users can also opt to automatically have them downloaded and get a notification when a new episode is released. Due to Apple Music having a wide range of original live shows, some people would like to go through them through podcasts.

Users Can Access Apple News+ Content Through Apple Music Subscriptions

Some of these shows include HYPED, Apple Music Today, and even The Zane Lowe Interview Series. It was reported that the Podcasts app would also be getting content from Apple News+, but this would require users to have an Apple News+ subscription.

According to Apple Insider, with the help of the new integration, users would be able to get narrated news. The update would allow users to keep themselves updated with the news on the go through audio format.

It was also reported that for users to be able to find podcasts from their app subscriptions, all they need to do is open the Podcasts app and click on the Library option. Once inside, users will be able to spot the Channel option to see a list of apps, including podcasts, in their offerings.
