Newegg's GPU Trade-In Program streamlines GPU upgrades, offering cash for your old GPU and promoting environmental sustainability by refurbishing and reselling them.

Are you itching to upgrade your gaming rig with the latest GPU but do not want the hassle of selling your old graphics card in the second-hand market?

The good news is that Newegg has just unveiled an enticing solution that not only streamlines the process but also contributes to environmental sustainability.

Newegg's newly launched GPU Trade-In Program promises to put cash back in your pocket when you purchase a new GPU while giving your old card a new lease on life.

The Trade-In Process

The premise is simple, as The Verge walks us through the process. When you decide to upgrade your GPU, you can explore Newegg's extensive catalog of graphics cards.

Once you find the perfect upgrade, you will see a prominent "Check Your Trade-In Value" button on the product page. This is where the magic begins.

By clicking on this button, you will enter details about your old GPU, including its make and condition. Newegg has set some criteria here; only GPUs from the RTX 20-series and RX 5000-series or newer are eligible.

If your card fits the bill, you will be asked to pay the full price for your new GPU, and Newegg will provide you with a prepaid UPS shipping label to send your old GPU back.

Here's the catch: you will not receive the trade-in credit instantly. After purchasing your shiny new GPU, you have 14 days to send in your old card.

Once Newegg receives it and confirms its condition, they will apply the credit as a refund to your original payment method. In some cases, Newegg may issue a gift card instead of a direct refund, but this is typically an exception.

What's in It for You?

Now, let's talk numbers. Newegg's trade-in values vary based on your old GPU's model and condition. The range is substantial, with the lowest offer starting at $30 for a 4GB AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT and soaring to $561 for the Nvidia RTX 3090 Ti 24GB.

While this program offers undeniable convenience, it is essential to be aware that the trade-in values may not be as lucrative as what you could fetch in the second-hand market.

Picture this: PCGamer tells us that if you were to trade in your RTX 3090 Ti, Newegg would offer you $561, but on eBay, a second-hand one can command anywhere between $800 to $900.

Environmental Impact

Beyond the financial aspects, Newegg's Trade-In Program also champions environmental sustainability. By participating in this program, you are helping to reduce electronic waste.

Rather than having your old GPU collect dust or end up in landfills, Newegg refurbishes and resells them, complete with a 30-day warranty.

This not only extends the life of your card but also reduces the need for manufacturing new components, further lessening the carbon footprint.

In a nutshell, Newegg's GPU Trade-In Program offers a hassle-free way to upgrade your gaming rig while giving your old GPU a second chance at life.
