Discord Outage: Users Greeted with 'Blocked' Message - When Will Service Return?

Discord, the popular instant messaging, and VoIP social platform, is currently grappling with a widespread outage that has left countless users locked out and dismayed.

The message, "Sorry, you have been blocked," has become an unexpected barrier between users and their virtual communities.

But what exactly is causing this disruption, and when can Discord users expect the service to return?

The Discord Outage

The first signs of trouble appeared when users attempted to access the platform, only to be met with the foreboding "Sorry, you have been blocked" message. This phrase not only left users puzzled but also led to a frenzy of speculation.

Reports of the problem surfaced on various social media platforms, with Twitter and Reddit serving as hubs for frustrated users seeking answers.

Downdetector, the popular downtime detection service, recorded a significant surge in reports of users encountering difficulties with Discord, confirming the issue's widespread nature.

Discord's Response, Cloudflare Problem

Discord, recognizing the gravity of the situation, is now responding to the outage, as we see on its official status page

They admitted awareness of the issue and assured users that their engineering team was actively investigating the abnormal rise in API errors.

Android Authority tells us that Discord's outage was found to be closely linked to Cloudflare's ongoing issues with its Dashboard and API service, compounded by scheduled maintenance at Cloudflare's data center in Doha.

User Frustrations

Across the Discord user community, frustration and worry ran rampant. Some feared that their accounts had been genuinely blocked due to policy violations.

However, as some minutes passed, many users began to regain access to their accounts, indicating that this was not a crackdown but a technical hiccup.

The message, it seems, was not an intentional barrier but rather a side effect of the underlying issues.

To those who are still locked out of their favorite virtual hangouts, the advice is to remain patient. Discord's team is diligently working on resolving the issues caused by unusual traffic spikes, a sign that the platform's popularity remains undiminished.

When Will the Service Return?

The million-dollar question on every Discord user's mind is, "When will the service return to normal?" Unfortunately, as of the latest update at 9 a.m. ET, the situation remains unresolved.

Discord has assured users that they are working diligently to mitigate the issue, but a specific timeframe for restoration is still elusive.
