"Genshin Impact" players who enjoy the game on the PlayStation 4, there's bad news.
MiHoYo has announced that it will be ceasing support for this version of the game within the year.
Unfortunately, the bad news doesn't end there as the PS4 version will also be completely shut down in 2026.
'Genshin Impact' PS4 Version's Future
According to MiHoYo, "Due to limitations related to hardware performance and platform application size, we will be discontinuing support and updates for Genshin Impact on PS4 in future versions."
Because of this, the PS4 version of the game will be removed from the PlayStation Network on September 10.
However, those who have previously downloaded the game will still be able to re-download it after this date.
What Happens in 2026
Come February 25, 2026, all in-game purchases for the PS4 version of "Genshin Impact" will be removed from the PlayStation Store.
In addition to this, all update support is scheduled to end on April 8, 2026. What this means is that players will no longer be able to log in to the game using their PS4.
MiHoYo notes that "Any items purchased from the PlayStation Store but not yet claimed in-game can only be claimed by logging into 'Genshin Impact' on PS5 after this date."
'Genshin' Players React
Many players of "Genshin Impact" have taken to Reddit to react to the news regarding the game's PS4 version.
"A whole year of notice before the shutdown seems pretty decent. The ps4 will be almost 13 years old at that point," One Redditor commented. "I wonder if they'll actually upgrade the PC port?"
"Not really surprising, except maybe that it took this long; Mondstat and Liyue are pretty barren and basic compared to a lot of what's come after them," another Redditor said.
