Kawasaki continues to advance its commitment to carbon neutrality. Following the recent launch of its A1 licence class EV motorcycles in Paris, the company introduced the Ninja 7 Hybrid, touted as the world's first mass-produced Strong Hybrid motorcycle.

Kawasaki' e-boost' Function

This hybrid marvel combines a 451cc parallel twin, water-cooled four-stroke engine, equipped with manual or automatic gear selection, with a traction motor and battery.

This e-fusion yields an engine power of 43.5 kW, surging to an impressive hybrid net power of 51.1 kW with the incorporation of "e-boost."

The Ninja 7 Hybrid's mid-size design offers performance akin to a 650cc to 700cc class motorcycle, delivering instantaneous acceleration comparable to a 1,000cc-class supersport model.

Kawasaki's e-boost function, previously featured in their EV machines, notably contributes to this swift response. Additionally, it boasts fuel efficiency akin to a 250cc-class model and facilitates button-shift sport riding.

Riders can select from three distinct riding modes: sport hybrid, eco-hybrid, and EV, catering to diverse riding scenarios. Noteworthy features include an idling stop function, temporarily halting the internal combustion engine at a standstill to conserve fuel and minimize emissions.

The Automatic Launch Position Finder (ALPF) automatically engages first gear when stationary, while a forward and reverse "walk mode" aids in low-speed maneuvering and parking.

The Ninja 7 Hybrid employs a specially designed version of Kawasaki's familiar trellis-type chassis, ingeniously accommodating the gasoline engine and 9 kW max traction motor.

This results in a compact dual-powered unit, with the 48V lithium-ion battery strategically positioned at the chassis's center for optimal weight distribution.

The bike exudes a distinct visual appeal, featuring a unique Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) treatment combining a matte lime green under cowl with silver and black bodywork, further setting it apart.

Kawasaki also said the Ninja 7 Hybrid offers a relaxed yet sporty riding posture, guiding the rider towards a high-grade cockpit and intuitively designed switchgear layout.

Kawasaki Ninja 7 Hybrid: First of its Kind

The full-color TFT instrumentation, including smartphone connectivity via a customized RIDEOLOGY THE APP MOTORCYCLE version, enhances the overall riding experience.

"As the first of its kind, the Ninja 7 Hybrid sets the bar for HEV motorcycling. Offering the best elements of ICE and EV models, and able to navigate both the urban jungle and countryside backroads, this revolutionary new model is greater than the sum of its parts," the company said in a press release.

"With its exciting character and numerous innovative features for riders to explore, the Ninja 7 Hybrid truly ushers in a new era in riding experiences," it added.

Based on Kawasaki's research, as of October 6, the Ninja 7 Hybrid stands as the first mass-produced motorcycle, excluding scooters, from a major manufacturer with a "strong hybrid" system.

Furthermore, the company said the Ninja 7 Hybrid's EV Mode finds practical application in situations demanding quiet operation, such as residential areas or parking facilities, albeit with limited speed and range capabilities.
