OnePlus is gearing up to launch its book-style foldable phone, the first of its kind. The OnePlus Open is set to hit the US market on Oct. 19 so if you're looking for an affordable foldable, this could be the moment that you're waiting for.

OnePlus Open's Design and Hardware

Upon close inspection of the images shared by Winfuture, it becomes evident that the OnePlus Open shares a striking resemblance with the Galaxy Z Fold 5, rather than the Pixel Fold.

What's more, it will harness the formidable Snapdragon Gen 2, the same chip found in the Fold 5, albeit with slight modifications. This processor will be paired with a generous configuration, offering up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

OnePlus Open's Impressive Camera Array

Surprisingly, the device boasts an expansive Hasselblad-powered circular camera array on its rear. Winfuture reports that this array will feature a 48MP primary sensor, a 48MP ultrawide unit, and a 64MP telephoto unit with 3x zoom.

While foldable phones aren't typically lauded for their camera prowess, these specifications promise a compelling photography experience.

Regarding its dimensions, the inner display is expected to measure 7.8 inches, utilizing OLED technology. Meanwhile, the external screen will be a more compact 6.31-inch variant, providing versatility for different use cases.

OnePlus Open's Pricing

The most enticing revelation pertains to the OnePlus Open's price point, rumored to fall below the $1,700 mark, as per Phone Arena. Although this figure is undeniably significant, it positions the device as a relatively more affordable alternative to the Pixel Fold and the Fold 5, both of which carry a $1,800 price tag.

Furthermore, OnePlus has taken strides to ensure the OnePlus Open stands out in the foldable phone market. It is engineered with a robust "gapless" hinge, a seamless design, and a less conspicuous display crease compared to the Fold 5.

Notably, the OnePlus Open is not entirely new, as it is essentially a rebadged version of Oppo's Find N3, as per Android Authority. This only proves that it's a testament to OnePlus' ability to tap into Oppo's innovative foldable technology

As it enters the market, it seeks to carve a space among the top contenders while showcasing the evolution of foldable phone technology. With its innovative features and competitive pricing, it's a device worth watching as it unfolds its potential.
