Nintendo's consoles are considered child-friendly, but not so much for others who bring out their toxic and abusive attitude in the online world, which is now being addressed by adding more bad words to be censored in its chats.

Nintendo Switch's latest firmware update has updated its list of the bad words being taken away, focusing on various languages to block. The move to make the Nintendo Switch ecosystem more SFW (safe for work) will help improve the quality of its gaming experiences and player relationships.

Nintendo Switch Adds More Bard Words to Censor in its Chats

Dataminer Oatmeal Dome has shared via X that there's a new firmware update for the Nintendo Switch, and it centers on significant changes on the list of bad words that it would censor on its chats.

While the Switch already had this feature available before, the company now added more words to be removed or filtered via the text chats in the game, cracking down on the negative words uttered on the console.

Words like "thot" and "reeee" (Yes, with the four e's) would no longer be seen on the platform, and uttering this would have it censored by the console. It is important to note that outsmarting Nintendo would also not work, as it would apply to all languages.

The latest update added the banned words in its different iterations, and according to ComicBook Gaming, Nintendo did not include this in its patch notes.

Different Languages Also Part of Firmware Update

Apart from the banned words, the console can also detect and remove other "censor-evading" words, including the slang for "testicles" in the Japanese language.

Nintendo Switch's latest 17.0.0 firmware update would help apply these bans and changes for the chat, which would help remove toxicity on the platform and reduce the culture of bad words among gamers of the Switch.

Nintendo Switch's Developments

The latest speculations and information on the Nintendo Switch are about the NG version, a.k.a. the Nintendo Switch 2, its next-generation console, which is allegedly coming out.

From insiders who get their information from various sources and post via social media to Activision Blizzard's massive trove of leaked developments, many believe that Nintendo is focusing on it now.

There are also claims that the upcoming Switch would have VR or AR capabilities. This change is significant with its Pokemon and Zelda titles to give a glimpse of this feature.

Nintendo Switch's changes via the firmware update now give the platform better opportunities for all ages to enjoy a less toxic gaming environment, particularly for those who spam profanities, racial slurs, and the like.

Censoring bad words may seem like a thing done for the kid's experience, but some gamers also appreciate a more wholesome and healthy gaming environment, now on the Switch.
