In connection with the fatal hit-and-run in California which killed a man and injured another, the accused hip-hop producer Marion Suge Knight has surrendered and been booked for murder.

The accident took place on Thursday, Jan. 29, in Compton and Knight's lawyer has revealed that Knight was behind the wheel of the vehicle that caused the casualties. The police are treating the incident as homicide.

"The people we have talked to have said it looked like it was an intentional act, so we're handling it as a homicide," revealed Lt. John Corina.

Per the sheriff's deputies of the L.A, County, a red pick-up truck ran over the two men at the parking lot of a fastfood joint. The driver left the scene immediately.

The victims were rushed to hospital and the 55-year-old man identified as Terry Certer (who is believed to be Knight's friend) was declared dead. The other victim was 51-year-old actor Cle Shaheed "Bone" Sloan who escaped with injuries.

According to Knight's lawyer James Blatt, two people attacked the rap mogul and as a result he attempted to escape in the vehicle. This in turn led to the hit-an-run which occurred at around 3pm at the 1200 block of West Rosecrans Avenue.

According to Lt. Corina, it seems that Knight "drove backwards" and hit the victims and then drove forward again to strike them.

A witness reveals that he heard arguing prior to the incident.

"I turn to look out and I seen Suge Knight turn around and go to his car. He backed his car up and put it in drive and hit Terry Carter. He ran him over twice," revealed the witness.

Officials also divulged that 30 minutes prior to the fatal incident, on the set of a promo shoot for the film "Straight Outta Compton" Knight got into a quarrel.

This is not the first time Knight has had a run-in with the law. In 1996, he was in the vehicle when Tupac Shakur was shot by gunmen. A year later, he was given nine years in jail for violating probation in an assault case. In 2008, Knight was arrested by the police as he was suspected of drug possession.

Currently, Knight is on bail in connection with theft of a camera belonging to a paparazzo.

Investigators are talking to witnesses for insights, looking ta videos, as well as studying evidence. Knight's vehicle has been found in Westwood.

""We are confident that once the investigation is completed, he will be totally exonerated," Blatt said in an interview.
